Le mot fait habituellement allusion à une série de négociations successives. On parle de rondes de négociations dans une entreprise, dans une industrie, dans un secteur ou même dans toute l'économie; dans ce dernier cas le point qui identifie telle ronde est habituellement le niveau d'augmentation des salaires. 2, record 3, French, - ronde%20de%20n%C3%A9gociations

Il appert que le terme « ronde de négociations » est utilisé abondamment au Québec et en Europe autant par les médias que par les gouvernements fédéral ou québécois au autres organismes provinciaux, nationaux ou internationaux. Que l'on parle de « ronde de négociations multilatérales (OMC), de « rondes de négociations constitutionnelles » ou de « rondes de négociations collectives », le terme « ronde » est bien implanté. Il est vrai que les dictionnaires généraux et québécois ne donnent pas le sens de série, cycle ou ensemble mais le Trésor de langue française donne l'exemple suivant : « Et à leur tour les discours de distributions de prix se sont trouvés entraînés dans la ronde de la bataille électorale ».
