The earliest method of liquid penetrant testing for cracks consisted of immersing the object to be tested in a bath of light oil, removing the excess oil and then covering the surface of the specimen with chalk. When the specimen was warmed, the oil, previously drawn into the cracks by capillary action would seep out onto the surface, and the blotting action of the chalk would show the outline of the crack. 2, record 2, English, - dye%20penetrant%20test

8, record 2, French, - essai%20de%20ressuage

Sonication is the act of applying sound (usually ultrasound) energy to agitate particles in a sample, for various purposes. In the laboratory, it is usually applied using an ultrasonic bath or an ultrasonic probe, colloquially known as a sonicator. ... Sonication can be used to speed dissolution, by breaking intermolecular interactions. ... In biological applications, sonication may be sufficient to disrupt or deactivate a biological material. ... Sonication is commonly used in nanotechnology for evenly dispersing nanoparticles in liquids. Sonication can also be used to initiate crystallisation processes and even control polymorphic crystallisations. ... Sonication is the mechanism used in ultrasonic cleaning; loosening particles adhering to surfaces. Outside the field of laboratory science, sonicating baths are used to clean objects such as spectacles and jewelry. Sonication is also used to extract microfossils from rock. 5, record 5, English, - ultrasonic%20bath

Gel spinning is a special process used to obtain high strength or other special fiber properties. The polymer is not in a true liquid state during extrusion. Not completely separated, as they would be in a true solution, the polymer chains are bound together at various points in liquid crystal form. This produces strong inter-chain forces in the resulting filaments that can significantly increase the tensile strength of the fibers. In addition, the liquid crystals are aligned along the fiber axis by the shear forces during extrusion. The filaments emerge with an unusually high degree of orientation relative to each other, further enhancing strength. 1, record 12, English, - gel%20spinning
Record number: 12, Textual support number: 1 OBS
The process can also be described as dry-wet spinning, since the filaments first pass through air and then are cooled further in a liquid bath. Some high-strength polyethylene and aramid fibers are produced by gel spinning. 1, record 12, English, - gel%20spinning

These are designed to bathe boatloads of wafers or other parts in quantity production. The bath vessels should be equipped with heating elements that surround and concentrate the desired heat on the liquid within the bath. This will enable the bath liquid to be heated rapidly(6 °C or more per minute), while also allowing the bath to be very stably operated between 40 ° and 180 °C. Baths should be equipped with a built-in thermistor sensor to regulate the amount of heat, and provide the capability of maintaining a very constant-temperature when necessary. The vessel should be designed to resist thermal shock, be capable of high heat retention, and be impervious to most acids. Wafer baths can be either mounted to the work surface, or they can be used free-standing unit. Liquid nitriding(nitriding in a molten salt bath) employs the same temperature range as gas nitriding-that is, 950 ° to 1050 ° F. As in liquid carburizing and cyaniding, the case hardening medium is molten cyanide. Unlike liquid carburizing and cyaniding, however, liquid nitriding is done below, instead of above, the transformation temperature range of the steel being treated. Also, liquid nitriding adds more nitrogen and less carbon to the steel than do cyaniding and carburizing in cyanide baths. 1, record 29, English, - liquid%20nitriding
