During the watershed years of the 1960s, the country was ripe for serious reflection. In 1963, the federal government created the Royal Commission on Bilingualism and Biculturalism(the Laurendeau-Dunton Commission), which spent seven years taking an X-ray of Canadian society. Its first finding was that the country was in the "central crisis of its history" and that, to resolve this, it would have to grant everyone the right to an education in his or her own official language; make the federal public service bilingual, and recognize the distinctive character of Quebec. Quebec was beginning to demand greater recognition of its majority language and culture. 4, record 8, English, - Royal%20Commission%20on%20Bilingualism%20and%20Biculturalism

4, record 8, French, - Commission%20royale%20d%27enqu%C3%AAte%20sur%20le%20bilinguisme%20et%20le%20biculturalisme

Commencing in 1974 and produced by the Education and Cultural Affairs Division of the National Museum of Man in conjunction with the relevant research divisions, the Museum Kits were multi-media, thematic, learning packages which were loaned free of charge for two-week intervals to schools community groups, libraries, etc. Each "museum in a box" included artifacts, specimens and related interpretive material such as films, maps, fact sheets, slides and resource books. There were two types of kits-a small kit with limited artifacts and resource materials, usually in separate language versions and the larger, bilingual, more complex kits, with resources inserted according to the requirements of the borrowers. The kits were designed for the 11-14 age group and were to promote an understanding and appreciation for Canada's multicultural heritage as well as the functions and importance of human history museums within Canada. Catalogues of available kits were produced and circulated through the National Programs Division. They have been discontinued. 1, record 11, English, - museum%20in%20a%20box

1, record 11, French, - mus%C3%A9e%20dans%20une%20bo%C3%AEte

The Canadian Association for the Prevention of Discrimination and Harassment in Higher Education(CAPDHHE) was founded in 2000. CAPDHHE evolved from Canadian Association Against Sexual Harassment in Higher Education(CAASHHE). CAASHHE itself evolved from the Natonal Conference on Sexual Harassment Association(NCOSHA), which was founded in 1984 to provide an annual conference concerning sexual harassment in institutions of higher education in Canada. The founding institutions were the University of Calgary, the University of Alberta and York University. In 1999 it was recognized that many members were addressing various forms of discrimination and harassment and the mandate of the association needed to be expanded. CAPDHHE was founded to express that larger mandate. It is a bilingual association. 1, record 14, English, - Canadian%20Association%20for%20the%20Prevention%20of%20Discrimination%20and%20Harassment%20in%20High%20Education

1, record 14, French, - L%27Association%20canadienne%20pour%20la%20pr%C3%A9vention%20de%20la%20discrimination%20et%20ou%20harc%C3%A8lement%20en%20milieu%20d%27enseignement%20sup%C3%A9rieur
