BLACK CELL [7 records]

Record 1 2008-08-25

English

Subject field(s)
  • Semiconductors (Electronics)
  • Photoelectricity and Electron Optics
  • Solar Energy
DEF

In addition to conventional solar cells, which are generally dark blue(crystalline cells) or grayish brown(amorphous cells), [a solar] cell [whose colours] range from gold to magenta(red), violet, green, light blue, black and gray.

OBS

Unlike coloured crystalline cells, "normal" crystalline cells have an anti-reflection layer that gives the cells their typical blue colour.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Semi-conducteurs (Électronique)
  • Photo-électricité et optique électronique
  • Énergie solaire
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Energy Transformation
  • Solar Energy
CONT

Concentrators have been developed for space applications. One such example... uses a Cassegrain mirror concentrator. A solar cell is exposed to concentrated sunlight in the Cassegrain mirror concentrator in which the light is focused by a secondary mirror on the solar cell attached to the front of a primary mirror. The back of the primary mirror is made black, and thus serves as a radiator, dissipating the heat from the solar cell.

Record 4 2004-07-02

English

Subject field(s)
  • Blood
  • Animal Diseases
DEF

The presence of free haemoglobin in the urine.

OBS

In true haemoglobinuria the protein has originated from erythrocytes haemolysed within the vascular system. In false haemoglobinuria it comes from erythrocytes in the urine that have haemolysed there, leaving red cell envelopes in the urinary sediment. In both forms the urine is coloured dark red to almost black.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Sang
  • Maladies des animaux
DEF

Présence d'hémoglobine dissoute dans l'urine par suite d'une forte hémoglobinémie.

Spanish

Campo(s) temático(s)
  • Sangre
  • Enfermedades de los animales
DEF

Presencia de hemoglobina en la orina.

Record 5 1995-02-01

English

Subject field(s)
  • Energy Transformation
  • Fuel Cells (Electr.)
  • Electrochemistry
  • Biochemistry
DEF

Fuel cell which uses enzyme reactions to convert the fuel. The catalyst may be a free enzyme in solution, an immobilized enzyme, a microorganism, or an immobilized microorganism (whole cell).

CONT

A variety of designs of biochemical fuel cell have been developed, each utilizing as the source of electrical current the electrochemical oxidation of hydrogen at a platinum black electrode(anode). The hydrogen may be produced from a carbohydrate source by micro-organisms, for example Escherichia coli or Clostridium butyricum, that contain a hydrogen-producing system based on hydrogenase.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Transformation de l'énergie
  • Piles à combustible (Électricité)
  • Électrochimie
  • Biochimie
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Solar Power Plants
CONT

Throughout the 1960's, the efficiency of silicon solar cells at illumination AM1 remained at 12% to 13%. The violet cell of 16% efficiency was announced in 1972. Finally, in 1974, a cell of 18% to 19% efficiency, called the black cell, was presented.
