Ach receptors at these sites and the effects of parasympathetic stimulation at these sites are termed "muscarinic. "A muscarinic effect well known to respiratory care clinicians is the increase in airway secretions after administration of Ach-like drugs, such as neostigmine. 2, record 16, French, - cromoglicate

Cannulae usually consist of a small-length rigid or semirigid plastic or metal tube, a handle, and a valve. The valve regulates the pressure within the cavity. The apparent discrepancy between the reported preferential occurrence of bronchial carcinomas in central bronchial airways and current dose estimates for inhaled particles suggests that experimentally observed local accumulations of particles within bronchial airway bifurcations may play a crucial role in lung cancer induction. Here, we computed three-dimensional particle deposition patterns in lobar-segmental airway bifurcations and quantified the resulting inhomogeneous deposition patterns in terms of deposition enhancement factors, which are defined as the ratio of local to average deposition densities. 3, record 41, English, - deposition%20enhancement%20factor

Forced inspiration is caused by the contraction of muscles in the upper chest, such as the sternocleidomastoids & scalenes. These muscles pull the chest up and out even more, further decreasing the intrapleural pressure so that even more air will rush into the lungs to fill the void. 2, record 43, English, - forced%20inspiration
Record number: 43, Textual support number: 2 CONT
In a healthy subject everything works together to create large flows during a forced inspiration : 1 The greater the inspiratory force applied, the lower the alveolar pressure relative to pressure at the mouth, and the larger the flow into the lung. 2 During a forced inspiration the(subatmospheric) pleural pressure outside intrathoracic airways is lower than bronchial pressure. The pressure difference is largest at the thoracic outlet and smallest in small intrapulmonary airways. Hence large intrathoracic airways... are subjected to a considerable distending force, and this helps in generating high inspiratory flows. 3, record 43, English, - forced%20inspiration

Mr. St. Thomas enrolled in the Canadian Armed Forces as an Air Traffic Controller Assistant on March 15th, 1973. At the time he enrolled he met the air crew standards for medical fitness.... It was while in Trenton that he first suffered from an allergy problem.... At approximately this time he was advised by his physician that he had bronchial asthma, and prescribed a Ventolin inhaler. During this period to 1980, there does not seem to have been any serious problems, and he had no difficulty in doing his work. Indeed, Mr. St. Thomas maintained his private pilots license, glider pilots license and his air crew medical status. 2, record 46, English, - aircrew%20medical%20status
