Westinghouse Lunar Color Camera. Used on Apollo's 12 & 14. The camera was mounted inside the Modularized Equipment Stowage Assembly(MESA) in Quad 4 of the Lunar Module(LM) Descent Stage. This gave the capability of broadcasting the first steps of the astronauts as they climbed down the ladder of the LM at the start of the first EVA [extra vehicular activity]. The astronauts would then detach the camera from it's mount in the MESA, mount the camera on a tripod, and carry it away from the LM to show the progress of the EVA. This system was the same TV camera used on previous missions inside the CSM, with a few minor modifications to adapt it to the lunar environment. It was called the Field Sequential Camera by Westinghouse.

... The large body [of the camera] accommodates an impressively long 12X zoom... The lens also includes an optical image stabilizer, which moves an element of the lens to keep images steady(other cameras include electronic image stabilization, which helps the camera compensate for movement after the image is taken; optical stabilization tends to be more effective). This worked extremely well, compensating for camera shake on longer exposures and when we used the zoom. It's no substitute for using a tripod, but it does keep images sharp.

CONT

Copy stands... are useful for amateur photographers who occasionally need a few copy negatives, and also for small microfilming jobs or similar work. This kind of stand is usually an upright column mounted on a copyboard. The camera is attached by means of its tripod socket to an arm-and-collar assembly, which slides up and down the column. A pair of lamps to illuminate the original are also mounted on the column at a suitable distance from the copyboard.

OBS

A similar device is also used for adjusting a video camera during the shooting of flat art or still objects.

When the wide angle lens is used [on a tripod], the front and back carriages must be mounted on the camera bed in front of the tripod hinge clamp to provide a clear field of view. Most of the camera bed then extends to the rear of the tripod hinge clamp. If panoramic sequence pictures are to be made, clamp the bed so that the lens swings approximately over the tripod centre.
