A cerebrovascular accident (CVA) is the result of an interruption of blood flow to a specific area of the brain (i.e., cerebral ischemia). Ischemia of cells directly causes cellular necrosis (death) and infarct (area of tissue that has become necrotic from lack of blood supply) ... Ischemia can be caused by: cerebral thrombosis ...; an embolus ...; intracerebral hemorrhage ...; pressure on a blood vessel ... 4, record 1, English, - cerebrovascular%20accident

Ischemic stroke. This is the most common type of stroke. It happens when the brain’s blood vessels become narrowed or blocked, causing severely reduced blood flow (ischemia). Blocked or narrowed blood vessels are caused by fatty deposits that build up in blood vessels or by blood clots or other debris that travel through your bloodstream and lodge in the blood vessels in your brain. 3, record 2, English, - ischemic%20cerebrovascular%20accident

Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
2, record 3, French, - accident%20vasculaire%20c%C3%A9r%C3%A9bral%20h%C3%A9morragique
