However, if no candidate receives an absolute majority of votes, then those candidates having less than a certain proportion of the votes, or all but the two candidates receiving the most votes, are eliminated, and a second round of voting occurs

Parmi les systèmes électoraux, le scrutin uninominal majoritaire à deux tours est un vote simple sans pondération. L'électeur doit choisir un candidat parmi plusieurs. On compte alors le nombre de voix obtenues par chaque candidat. Si un candidat recueille la majorité absolue (plus de 50% des suffrages exprimés) il est élu. Sinon, on organise une seconde élection, par exemple 8 à 15 jours plus tard, pouvant comporter un nombre plus réduit de candidats, et à l'issue de laquelle est élu celui qui recueille le plus de voix (majorité relative) parmi les suffrages exprimés.

The APEX Partnership Award is given annually to a member of the federal executive cadre through a partnership arrangement with the National Bank of Canada. The individual chosen may have a proven track record(either over a number of years or through the course of one major project) of having actively engaged in, promoted and enabled partnership initiatives with other departments, other orders of government and/or other sectors in a manner that has resulted in enhanced or more efficient services. Alternatively, the candidate may have played a catalytic role with other departments, other orders of government and/or other sectors which resulted in positive change to public policy and its implementation.
