The Christian Democratic Union of Germany(CDU-Christlich Demokratische Union Deutshlands) is the largest conservative political party in Germany. CDU was founded after the war with many members of the former Centre Party, but with the goal to include not only Catholics, but also Protestants, in a common confessional and conservative party. L'Union chrétienne-démocrate d'Allemagne (Christlich Demokratische Union Deutshlands, CDU) est un parti politique allemand fondé en 1945. à Berlin et en Rhémanie, elle s'est organisée entre 1945 et 1949 dans les Länder des zones d'occupation occidentales. Elle s'est unie au niveau fédéral en 1950. Une partie importante de ses membres (Konrad Adenauer, entre autres) est originaire de l'Ancien parti Zentrum («Parti du centre»), d'inspiration catholique, existant avant la Seconde Guerre mondiale, mais réunit catholiques et protestants. Elle a été la principale formation gouvernementale de 1949 à 1966 et de 1982 à 1998.
