CHROMATIC COLOUR [7 records]

Record 1 2002-02-07

English

Subject field(s)
  • Psychology (General)
CONT

Factors that help maintain colour constancy are chromatic adaptation(a decrease in the sensitivity to certain wavelengths with repeated exposure), the surroundings(colour of an object can be judged, relative to the changes in surroundings) and memory colour(where an objects characteristic colour influences our perception of its colour in other surroundings).

English

Subject field(s)
  • Cinematography
  • Audiovisual Techniques and Equipment
  • Photography
DEF

A photographic film composed of two sensitive emulsions, each is sensitive to a different color when exposed simultaneously.

CONT

Bipack films were employed in early colour processes to obtain a chromatic selection of the scene being taken. This was achieved by placing one film with orthochromatic emulsion face to face with another coated with panchromatic emulsion. The first film was tinted to act as a selecting filter so that a different region of the spectrum was recorded on each emulsion. Nowadays, the standardization of colour monopack film has made the bipack system obsolete...

  • chromatic colour

French

Domaine(s)
  • Optique
DEF

DEF

... attachment for retinoscopes which will place small colour filters over the operator’s eyepiece of the instrument.

OBS

This allows an objective measurement of the chromatic aberrations of the eye utilizing a well known clinical technique. It also allows one to further objectify and hence render more reproducible the measurement of refractive state of the eye by specifying the colour of the light used in the observation.
