CODE SIGNALLING [12 records]

Record 1 2008-11-24

English

Subject field(s)
  • Telecommunications
  • Radiotelephony
  • Internet and Telematics
  • Radio Transmission and Reception
DEF

A multiple access technique in which a separate time slot is allocated to each tributary transmission channel in a common channel.

OBS

The baseband signals can be many, but before modulation they have to be converted to digital signals. TDMA is therefore uniquely suited for transmission of digital signals such as TDMA-PCM [pulse code modulation] telephony or data signals. TDMA has been used in a number of systems, e. g. signalling and access information channels in the SPADE and MARISAT systems.

OBS

time division multiple access; TDMA: term, abbreviation and definition standardized by ISO in 1995; term and abbreviation standardized by CSA International in 1992.

OBS

time division multiple acces; TDMA: term and abbreviation officially approved by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO).

Key term(s)
  • time-division multiple-access

French

Domaine(s)
  • Télécommunications
  • Radiotéléphonie
  • Internet et télématique
  • Émission et réception radio
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radio Transmission and Reception
  • Telecommunications Transmission
CONT

The radio receiver 28 coupled to the antenna 26 receives the signal to be analyzed from the antenna 26 and produces the first and second output signals which are derived from the received signal. The first derived output signal is the Observed ID Code of the subject transmitter 14, whereas the second derived output signal includes one or more analog signals A and one or more digital signals D. sub. 1 derived from the received signal, e. g. amplitude demodulated signal, frequency demodulated signal, rate of change of frequency, demodulated digital signalling, etc, which are the observed parameter values corresponding to the plurality of characteristics or parameters of the received signal.

DEF

In pulse code modulation, a time slot occupying a defined position in a frame and used for the transmission of the character signals relating to a particular channel. It may also be used for the transmission of in-slot signalling or other information.

OBS

Where appropriate a description may be added, for example "telephone channel time slot".

French

Domaine(s)
  • Transmission (Télécommunications)
DEF
