Anaglyph images are used to provide a stereoscopic 3D effect, when viewed with 2 color glasses(each lens a chromatically opposite color, usually red and cyan). Images are made up of two color layers, superimposed, but offset with respect to each other to produce a depth effect. The picture contains two differently filtered colored images, one for each eye. The MPEG standard is primarily a bitstream specification, although it also specifies a typical decoding process to assist in interpreting the bitstream specification. This approach supports data interchange, but it does not restrict creativity and innovation in the means for creating or decoding that bitstream. The bitstream architecture is based on a sequence of pictures, each of which contains the data needed to create a single displayable image. Note that the order of transmission of pictures in the data stream may not be the same as the order in which pictures will be displayed-this will be evident shortly. There are four different kinds of pictures, depending on how each picture is to be decoded : I pictures... P pictures... B pictures are interpolated pictures, which are coded by interpolating between a previous and a future I or P picture. This process is sometimes referred to as "bidirectional prediction.

Contrast enhancement. Improving the picture by turning up the contrast. Most digital image display systems allow one to break each ’primitive’ colour into 256 degrees of intensity. An image that uses this entire intensity scale, that is, that contains values coded from 0 to 255, has excellent contrast, for the colour range will extend from black to white and include fully-saturated colours. In contrast, an image that uses a narrow range of numerical values will lack contrast(it will look ’greyish’). 2, record 7, English, - nonlinear%20contrast%20enhancement

Note that the order of transmission of pictures in the data stream may not be the same as the order in which pictures will be displayed-this will be evident shortly. There are four different kinds of pictures, depending on how each picture is to be decoded : I pictures.... P pictures are predicted pictures, which are coded using motion compensation from a previous I or P picture. B pictures.... D pictures.... 1, record 13, English, - P%20picture
