CODED STOP [4 records]

Record 1 2007-09-14

English

Subject field(s)
  • Internet and Telematics
CONT

Synchronous and asynchronous data transfer are two methods of sending data over a phone line.... In asynchronous transmission, data is coded into a series of pulses, including a start bit and stop bit. A start bit is sent by the sending modem to inform the receiving modem that a character is to be sent. The character is then sent, followed by a stop bit designating that the transfer of that bit is complete.

Record 3 1986-12-16

English

Subject field(s)
  • Aircraft Piloting and Navigation
  • Air Safety
CONT

The coded centre line for the final 900 m is most valuable in the event of aborted take-off, since the cues enable the pilot to use judgement in resorting to emergency braking procedures to stop within the confines of the runway.

  • Sécurité (Transport aérien)
CONT

Record 4 1986-10-15

English

Subject field(s)
  • Airport Runways and Areas
  • Signalling and Illumination (Air Transport)
CONT

Take-off guidance is provided by runway centre line lighting and marking. Once over the system, alignment guidance is excellent and operations can be safely executed in quite low visual ranges. The coded centre line for the final 900 m is most valuable in the event of aborted take-off, since the cues enable the pilot to use judgement in resorting to emergency braking procedures to stop within the confines of the runway.

CONT
