NSNs are issued by National Codification Bureaus(NCBs). The NSN is a 13 digit number and is divided into 3 parts : The first 4 digits are the NATO Supply Classification Code... The next 2 digits indicate the NCB assigning the NSN. The final 7 digits... do not have inherent significance. However, the number is assigned... to only one item of supply within the codifying country.... NSNs are usually assigned to items that are needed on a recurring basis. NSNs are assigned by the country of manufacture, not the country that requires an NSN assignment. That principle helps prevent NSN duplication.

Natural Entrance Points : These are the points at which the coastline can most reasonably be said to turn inward to form an indentation or bay. In the history of the law of bays and its codification, this is a new term. It appears to be about as accurately expressive of the natural conditions envisioned for a juridical bays as any that can be devised. Although never appearing in the Drafts of the United Nations International Law Commission on the law of the sea, it was used in the opinion of the Court in United Kingdom v. Norway. Other and older terms which have been used are mouth of the bay, headlands, or inter fauces terrae(sometimes called inter fauces terrarum).

The idea of the contiguous zone has not commended itself to all States. At the 1930 Hague Codification Conference nine States opposed it, including all the British Dominions and the United States. The United Kingdom pointed out that its revenue jurisdiction does not extend to foreign ships, but this is the case only since 1853. In The Le Louis in 1817, Lord Stowell said : Maritime states have claimed a right of visitation and enquiry within those parts of the ocean adjoining to their shores, which the common courtesy of nations has for their common convenience allowed to be considered as parts of their dominions for various domestic purposes... Such are our hovering laws, which within certain limited distances more or less moderately assigned, subject foreign vessels to such examination.
