CONT

The motion of free-floating space robots is characterized by non-holonomic constraints, i. e., non-integrable rate constraint equations. These constraints originate from the principles of conservation of angular momentum. It is well known that these rate constraints can also be written to form an input-affine drift-less control system. Trajectory planning of these systems is extremely challenging and computation intensive since the motion must satisfy differential constraints. Under certain conditions, these drift-less control systems can be shown to be differentially flat.

CONT

To date, most of the research on the control of space robots has centered on "free-floating" robots. Free-floating robots are defined as space robots where the satellite base position and orientation are unactuated. Without base actuation, no external forces or torques act upon the system when the end-effector is not in contact with the work environment. The linear and angular momenta of the system are conserved, so the spacecraft base moves in reaction to commanded arm motion.

The Planning Board developed and will implement a land use plan for the Gwich’in Settlement Area. In following the principles outlined in the Land Claim and the Mackenzie Valley Act, the Planning Board developed a land use plan that provides for the conservation, development and utilization of land, water and resources. Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
CONT

Conservation genetics is a mixture of ecology, molecular biology, population genetics, mathematical modeling and evolutionary systematics (the construction of family relationships). It is both a basic and an applied science. Scientists must first understand the genetic relationships of the organisms under study. ... management techniques must then be applied by wildlife managers to preserve biological diversity in these species. ... Information about the genetic diversity of the [plants and] animals under study helps scientists and managers in forming strategies to preserve and protect the diversity of plants and animals worldwide.

CONT

Conservation genetics [is] concerned with the population genetics principles involved in the maintenance of feral species. The maintenance of the populations depends on inbreeding, outbreeding, effective population size, deleterious mutation, reproductive success, adaptation to captivity, reintroduction, vagility, outbreeding depression, extinction, etc.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
CONT

Each member is dedicated to environmental principles contained in the Co-op's "Code of Environmental Practice". The Conservation Co-op has some unique building features relating to energy conservation and reducing impacts on the environment, which have inspired the water reuse treatment system. All members follow certain guidelines in order to achieve the goals established by the Co-op. These goals include reducing the consumption of energy, water and waste to levels significantly lower that those of conventional households and to demonstrate that housing, which reduces environmental stress, is economically feasible.

Tous les membres doivent contribuer à l'atteinte des buts fixés par la Coop en suivant certaines lignes directrices. DEF

Horizontal water motion of the ocean due to the stress exerted on its surface by the wind.

CONT

The main principles of wind-driven ocean circulation are as follows. 1. Wind stress causes transport of water in a thin Ekman surface layer. 2. If there is a curl to the wind stress, the Ekman layer transport will converge or diverge, causing downwelling or upwelling. 3. The downwelling or upwelling motions cause fluid columns to squash or stretch vertically, and this causes slow southward or northward flow due to conservation of potential vorticity. 4. The southward or northward flow is determined by the Sverdrup relationship, which links the N-S transport of water with the curl of the wind stress. In order to conserve mass, the water returns to its original position via a relatively thin boundary layer adjacent to the western edge of the basin.
