The term "Coreidae" denotes the family of dark-colored hemipteran insects(Hemiptera) of approximately 10 mm in length, belonging to the superfamily Coreoidea. In this family one will find what is more commonly called leaf-footed bugs and squash bugs. Actually the squash bug(Anasa tristis) is a well-known species within the Coreidae-leaf-footed bug family. Insects of this family are characterized by the many veins in the membranes of their forward wings and by their injurious saliva which severely damages plants such as squash, cucumbers and melons.
