CPREA was founded by a group of academics and peace researchers meeting at a conference at the University of Sherbrooke in 1966. Ever since that time the association has been meeting regularly at its annual conference(besides some regional gatherings) held along with the meetings of other Learned Societies... The main purpose of the Association is to advance research and promote education in the causes of war and the conditions of peace.
