A switch mounted directly on a microphone to provide a convenient means for switching two-way radiotelephone equipment or electronic dictating equipment to the talk position.

Hand microphones and headsets are installed at each flight crew member station. The hand microphone is designed for close-talking, noise-cancelling applications in high noise level areas. The microphone is packaged in a small molded, black, high-impack phenolic case. A press-to-talk button is located on the upper portion of the case... Oxygen masks with microphones are installed at each flight crew member station. A push-to-talk button is installed on the captain's control wheel and on the first officer's control wheel. The push-to-talk buttons are used to control the oxygen mask microphones when transmitting on the selected communication transceiver or on the audio integrating system.

... AlliedSignal has changed the way it manufactures its highly accurate gyros in an effort to stretch their service lives to prevent a future shutdown. But the basic design of the gyros has not changed, since they are about twice as accurate as the next-best gyros available, according to Hubble Program Manager John Campbell. The problem is the tiny leads that carry power to the gyro rotors. Sunk in a thick damping fluid, the hair-like wires corrode over time and break. The six new gyros Discovery's crew will install retain the fine power leads, but the damping fluid was loaded into the gyros in a manner that engineers hope kept oxygen out of the system, reducing the risk of oxidation.

The Extravehicular Mobility Unit(EMU) consists of an integrated Space Suit Assembly(SSA) and Life Support Subsystem(LSS) with other crew items designed for Extravehicular Activity(EVA) outside the shuttle Space Transportation System(STS) orbiter or ISS. The NASA EMU provides life support functions, such as oxygen supply, carbon dioxide removal, a pressurized enclosure, temperature control and micrometeoroid protection, so astronauts can leave their shirtsleeve environment and work effectively in space.

Although the term space suit is sometimes used to designate the "extravehicular mobility unit" [EMU], "space suit" is, in fact, synonymous with "space suit assembly" which is a component of the EMU.
