Two concepts are important: deformation phases and metamorphic events. The first relates to specific periods during which a rock is deformed under the influence of a deviatoric stress field, leaving visible records such as folds, cleavages or lineations. Successive deformation phases may be superposed on each other leaving overprinting structures such as folded foliations, refolded folds or folded lineations. 1, record 3, English, - deformation%20phase

Images of phase differences between two SAR images acquired from two repeated SAR coverages are called repeat-pass interferograms. The technique used with these data to generate digital elevation models(DEMs), deformation maps, and temporal change maps is called repeat-pass interferometry and was first demonstrated by Zebker and Goldstein at JPL. In this workshop, an introduction to interferometry will be given with the goal of giving the participants a basic understanding of the technique and the tools required to obtain good results. This will be followed by an overview of some of the recent results obtained by scientists working with RADARSAT, ERS-1/2, and JERS-1 SAR data sets. Finally, a summary of emerging applications will be given. Applications include : DEM Mapping, Earthquake Monitoring, Volcano Deformation Monitoring, Ice Dynamics, Land Subsidence Measurement and Land Surface Change Detection. International Symposium "Geomatics in the Era of RADARSAT", Ottawa, 1997. 1, record 4, English, - Introducing%20Repeat%2DPass%20Spaceborne%20SAR%20Interferometry%3A%20A%20New%20Technique%20for%20Elevation%20Mapping%20and%20Change%20Detection

Duplex stainless steels, consisting of approximately equal amounts of austenite and ferrite, often combine the best features of austenitic and ferritic stainless steels. They generally have good mechanical properties, including high strength and ductility, and the corrosion resistance is often better than conventional austenitic grades. This has lead to a growing use of duplex stainless steels as a material in mechanically loaded constructions. However, detailed knowledge regarding its mechanical properties and deformation mechanisms are still lacking. In this project special emphasis has been placed on the residual stresses and their influence on mechanical behaviour of duplex stainless steels. Due to the difference in coefficient of thermal expansion between the two phases, tensile microstresses are found in the austenitic phase and balancing compressive microstresses in the ferritic phase. 2, record 5, English, - austenitic%20phase

2, record 5, French, - phase%20aust%C3%A9nitique
Record number: 5, Textual support number: 2 CONT
3, record 5, French, - phase%20aust%C3%A9nitique
