1, record 5, French, - analyse%20co%C3%BBt%2Fefficacit%C3%A9

... the term "state of technology"(a standard term used in licences) is a dynamic concept and both the availability and the economic feasibility of the technology become issues. Dr. Rainer HAMM(Rechtsanwalt)(defence attorney) commented that there is a sensitive major tax on waste water. Those who have a licence to use a river to pollute have to pay a fee depending on the degree of pollution. The waste water effluent fees are quite effective to minimize pollution.... Large corporations also have high incentive to develop technology. It is they who develop technology. While universities can and do develop standards, they cannot build technology and compare standards. That can only be done by industry itself. Thus it is the industry which makes the law by defining the standards of technology. They are motivated to do so by the new device, popular in the United States, known as "technology forcing. "Dr. HAMM was however sceptical of using criminal law to pursue dynamic concepts. If you include a state of technology that can change any time and then punish someone for not having fulfilled the state of technology, then you blur the distinction between what is criminal and what is not criminal. 2, record 6, English, - technology%20forcing

The distinction which is more significant than the distinction between freehold and leasehold ownership is the distinction between the long and the short lease. For most purposes a 999-year lease may be indistinguishable from freehold ownership; a weekly tenancy is much less valuable and its value will depend on the degree of security available. In the case of a 999-year lease the whole of the capital value more or less has been transferred to the tenant. In the case of a weekly tenancy-apart from his security-the tenant is receiving nothing but the present use of the property and the capital value remains in the landlord.(Harwood, 1975, p. 499). 1, record 8, English, - short%20lease

Eco-tourism and adventure tourism are closely aligned but they are often differentiated in two ways. One difference is the degree of risk involved in the activities. Many people, for example, would call a snowboarding holiday more of an adventure than an eco-tourism experience because of the higher degree of risk. Another distinction is linked to the level of motorized transportation involved. Adventure tourism may make use of vehicles such as snowmobiles or helicopters for heli-skiing. While these are common distinctions, there are no hard rules for differentiating the two. Some activities could be labeled as adventure tourism, eco-tourism, recreation and outdoor pursuits at the same time. Indeed, some people may view biking through the mountains as adventure tourism while others might call it eco-tourism because they are out in nature enjoying the spring wildflowers. 3, record 10, English, - adventure%20tourism

2, record 10, French, - tourisme%20d%27aventure

In a practical sense, sovereignty is also largely a matter of degree. Some States enjoy more power and independence than other States. This leads to the familiar distinction between independent or sovereign States, and non-independent or non-sovereign States or entities, for example, Protectorates and colonies. Even here it is difficult to draw the line, for although a State may have accepted important restrictions on its liberty of action, on other respects it may enjoy the widest possible freedom. "Sovereignty" is therefore a term of art rather than a legal expression capable of precise definition. 5, record 13, English, - sovereign%20state

2, record 13, French, - %C3%89tat%20souverain

... the urban world into which Mary progressively enters is typical of modern African town-life. It displays the familiar interplay between formal and informal sector markets for labour and commodities, a high degree of ethnic and linguistic pluralism, and a relative dominance of formal organizations. The last foster a general awareness of formal-sector career models, which the young urbanites especially seek to emulate. Kinship appears to offer an urban reception structure for recent migrants that patterns urban-rural relations; however, ready alternatives to kinship are offered by urban churches and by the urban workplace, each providing a non-kinship, urban reception structure and reference group which may, however, superficially be cast in the idiom of fictive kinship. Commonly men and women do not follow the same trajectories in urbanization. The town, while largely destructive or rural-based social placement, is the site of a proliferation of new forms of social placement in class terms, depending on capital formation and on socio-economic distinction. 2, record 14, English, - reception%20structure
