DENDRITIC GROWTH [3 records]

Record 1 2007-07-03

English

Subject field(s)
  • Printed Circuits and Microelectronics
  • Semiconductors (Electronics)
  • Industrial Techniques and Processes
DEF

A ribbon-pulling process used to make solar cell ribbons.

OBS

The filament crystal widens as it grows, and narrow filaments or dendrites at its edges grow into hot silicon. As the seed pellet is pulled up from the silicon, the dendrites continue to grow. A smooth web of a single-crystal silicon, six thousandths of an inch thick, forms between the dendrites.

Key term(s)
  • dendritic growth

French

Domaine(s)
  • Circuits imprimés et micro-électronique
  • Semi-conducteurs (Électronique)
  • Techniques industrielles
DEF

English

Subject field(s)
  • Computer Graphics
  • Mathematics
DEF

Having a branching, treelike structure or pattern.

CONT

A tip can be either unstable and go through repeated tip splittings, or stable, and lead to dendritic growth. Unstable tips result in disordered structures with no apparent symmetry. If the tips are stable, in the sense that small perturbations around their stationary shape decay relatively quickly, the obtained patterns have a symmetry of varying degree.

CONT

At about m=5, the random, tip-splitting structure for DLA clusters crosses over into a dendritic pattern with well-defined but irregularly spaced side branches having stable tips.

CONT

There are two basic types of dendritic crystallization: i) in a pure undercooled liquid and, ii) in an isothermal liquid mixture.

OBS

Term derived from crystallography.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Immunology
CONT

Recombinant tumor cells or dendritic cells and their exosomes as well as engineered viruses have been demonstrated to elicit specific antitumor immune responses leading to tumor growth suppression and long lasting immunity.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Immunologie
CONT
