In each catch, the fish are kept apart and are not released until the end of the last catch. This method leads to a depletion of the population number, which means that the number of fish caught in each catch will decrease. This makes it possible to make a linear regression between the number of fish caught in each catch(Y-axis) and accumulated number of fishes caught in the previous catches(X-axis). Like this, one can make a population estimate by calculating the intercept with the X-axis. 1, record 5, English, - de%20Lury%20catch%2Ddepletion%20system

Inconstant catchability among individual fish has been widely recognized... as a major source of error in depletion estimates of population size when using models [that] assume constant catchability. Inconstant catchability is a feature of populations that contain individuals with different vulnerabilities to capture or when their behaviour changes with successive hauls. The effect is to cause a rapid depletion of the more vulnerable individuals after the first unit(or few units) of effort is applied, leaving behind a pool of animals with a lower [catchability]. 2, record 11, English, - inconstant%20catchability

HFCs [Hydrofluorocarbons] are produced synthetically and are used primarily as refrigerants. They became widely used for this purpose beginning in the late 1980s, with the introduction of the Montreal Protocol, which phased out the use of chemicals such as halons and chlorofluorocarbons(CFCs) that contribute to the depletion of Earth's ozone layer. However, while HFCs have an ozone depletion potential of zero, they are potent greenhouse gases, and thus their manufacture and use became increasingly regulated in the 21st century. 8, record 18, English, - hydridofluoridocarbon

Core Power Distribution. In order to ensure predictable temperatures and uniform depletion of the fuel installed in a reactor, numerous measures are taken to provide an even distribution of flux throughout the power producing section of the reactor. STED [stimulated emission depletion] microscopy was the first high-resolution microscopy concept applied more widely for the study of biological questions. As performed in classical confocal laser scanning microscopy, a conventional laser beam is used to stimulate the fluorescent molecules in what is a normal excited spot(of several hundred nanometers in diameter). A second toroidal(doughnut shaped) beam is used to quench the fluorophores by stimulated emission. By overlapping the two beams, fluorescence is allowed only from the center of the spot, which thus generates a much smaller exciting focal spot... Thus, in practical terms, a smaller effective PSF [point spread function] is generated that causes less blurring and, therefore, results in higher resolution. Theoretically, the gain in resolution is not physically limited : it only depends on the power of the quenching laser beam(the higher the power, the smaller the imaging spot becomes). 1, record 44, English, - quenching%20laser%20beam

1, record 74, French, - solvant%20alternatif

Studies of the Antarctic ozone hole have shown that polar stratospheric clouds(PSCs) play an important role in the depletion of ozone. The PSCs contribute to ozone depletion by cycling chlorine from inactive "reservoir" species such as ClONO2 and HCl into reactive chlorine atoms. Although it is known that one type of PSC particle(Type Ia) contains nitric acid and water in a crystalline form, the composition and formation mechanism of these particles is not yet known. We measured the crystallization rates of nitric acid trihydrate(NAT) and nitric acid dihydrate(NAD) to determine the amount of time which would be required for 3 : 1 and 2 : 1 water : nitric acid solutions to freeze to NAT and NAD, respectively, under stratospheric conditions. 3, record 82, English, - nitric%20acid%20trihydrate

2, record 96, French, - amortissement
