(Heeling in) is a procedure designed to keep alive and in the best possible condition bare-root plants dug for transplanting that cannot be planted immediately. ... It is done by digging a trench or ditch of sufficient size to accommodate the roots of plants laid as closely together as practicable without breaking, or bunching the roots to the extent that soil filled in will not be in contact with them. 1, record 5, English, - trench
Record number: 5, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Water your heeling trenches thoroughly, immediately before setting your plants into this temporary home. Cut off any roots which were damaged in the moving process, and then you can set each plant into the trench, allowing a small space between each rootball. Mix moist peat moss or wood shavings with the native soil to increase the water retention capabilities of the soil. Using this mixture, work the soil in among the roots, and cover the entire root ball slightly deeper than at the depth it was previously covered. Water again, thoroughly. Be sure to water this holding area regularly, but do not feed the plants. This method should keep your plants alive for 6 months or longer, until you are ready to set them into their permanent garden home. 2, record 5, English, - trench

The plate is first covered with an acid-resistant resinous substance. The artist then takes a finely pointed needle and draws the design out of this resinous ground. The drawing instrument does not cut into the metal surface. The image which will print is represented by the areas in which the copper of the plate has been exposed. The plate is then immersed in an acid bath. The acid eats into the plate only in those areas not protected by the ground. The length of time the plate remains in the acid bath determines the depth of the etched lines. 3, record 7, English, - etching

Collecting the Medeco reward probably requires that you pick one of their newer Biaxial locks, which include the forward and backward pin alignments as well as left and right.... I believe that these are the biaxials. They are no big deal; the chisel points are offset forward or back by. 025". It effectively gives each pin twice the keying versatility, since the key cut can be the right depth and twist, but if it's not under the chisel tip, you lose. A master key for this system would have two cuts right next to each other that would address either offset [and I believe they would be at the same height, since it's difficult to cut two different heights only. 050" apart and have enough "meat" left to turn the pin]. 2, record 10, English, - Biaxial%C2%AE

... you can see the basic set up of a traditional jamb peg faceter. The spinning lap provides the grinding and polishing surface, the wooden "dop" sticks to which the rough is adhered, serve to hold the stone in position as various cuts are made. The angle of the cut is controlled by placing the dop stick in a particular hole, the depth of cut is controlled by the amount of time the piece spends in contact with the lap and how hard the facetor presses down on it, and the radial position is controlled by removing, slightly rotating, and reinserting the dop stick in its hole as each different cut is made. Most stones that are cut on such equipment are referred to as "native cut. " 2, record 14, English, - jamb%20peg

A cutter-loader based on the plough principle and designed to cut coal which is too hard for the ordinary plough. Two vertical blades, fitted one at each end of the machine, carry cutting picks which shear the coal from the face by an oscillating motion. The machine is hauled backward and forward along the face by a chain haulage mounted on the tail end of the conveyor. The conveyor and slicer are held up to the coal by pneumatic rams spaced along the goaf side of the conveyor. The sheared coal is forced from the face by the wedge shape of the machine and is loaded on to the armoured conveyor by means of specially shaped ramps. The machine has been designed for seams with a minimum thickness of 4 ft and has a maximum cutting depth of 14 in. 4, record 34, English, - Huwood%20slicer

Slow-speed plows equipped with stepped knives generally cut only in one direction, the cutting run being made at speeds of 15-20 ft/min and the return being made at 30-60 ft/min. In order to maintain productivity with the slow-speed plows it is necessary to take as deep a slice as possible during the cutting run and the depth of slice may vary from 6 to 12 in., according to the hardness of the seam. The machine is hauled along the face by a 7/8 in. diameter wire rope which is wound by a 40-h. p. electrically driven winch located in the tail gate. Slow plows have been successfully used in conjunction with pre-cutting of the face but it appears that they will be superseded by rapid plows because of the greater productive capacity of the latter machines. 1, record 40, English, - slow%2Dspeed%20plow

Rabot statique d'origine. 1, record 40, French, - rabot%20statique

Filetage conique standard américain "NPT" dit "filetage Briggs". (...)
