Constant depth linear cutting(CDLC) provides a long-term solution to excessive dust generation from shearers and continuous mining machines through a new design of the rotary drum cutting system.... The CDLC concept is designed to cut a full face by using an eccentrically mounted triangular shaped drum. In addition to breaking to a free face with no secondary fragmentation, the CDLC will have a bit velocity well below the minimums needed for phase shifts in the bit metals or for methane ignition. 1, record 4, English, - constant%20depth%20linear%20cutting

Coyote blasting is best adapted to faces from 80 to 175 ft. high, where the surface is irregular and where a large tonnage of rock is to be broken at one blast. It is suitable for seams from 2 to 8 ft thick, with reasonably good roof and floor. The plough travels along the face at a speed of 75 f. p. m. with a cutting depth from 1 1/2 to 3 in. and the broken coal is loaded by the plough-shaped body on to an armoured conveyor. 1, record 7, French, - rabot%20rajout%C3%A9

A cutter-loader based on the plough principle and designed to cut coal which is too hard for the ordinary plough. Two vertical blades, fitted one at each end of the machine, carry cutting picks which shear the coal from the face by an oscillating motion. The machine is hauled backward and forward along the face by a chain haulage mounted on the tail end of the conveyor. The conveyor and slicer are held up to the coal by pneumatic rams spaced along the goaf side of the conveyor. The sheared coal is forced from the face by the wedge shape of the machine and is loaded on to the armoured conveyor by means of specially shaped ramps. The machine has been designed for seams with a minimum thickness of 4 ft and has a maximum cutting depth of 14 in. 4, record 8, English, - Huwood%20slicer

Slow-speed plows equipped with stepped knives generally cut only in one direction, the cutting run being made at speeds of 15-20 ft/min and the return being made at 30-60 ft/min. In order to maintain productivity with the slow-speed plows it is necessary to take as deep a slice as possible during the cutting run and the depth of slice may vary from 6 to 12 in., according to the hardness of the seam. The machine is hauled along the face by a 7/8 in. diameter wire rope which is wound by a 40-h. p. electrically driven winch located in the tail gate. Slow plows have been successfully used in conjunction with pre-cutting of the face but it appears that they will be superseded by rapid plows because of the greater productive capacity of the latter machines. 1, record 12, English, - slow%2Dspeed%20plow

Rabot statique d'origine. 1, record 12, French, - rabot%20statique
