Weighing gauges are most useful in areas with frequent snow, since they measure any form of precipitation simply by weighing on a balance whatever falls into a pail. The downward motion of the pail as it fills with precipitation is transmitted to a recording chart on a clock-turned drum. Many of these gauges are equipped with a funnel which can be removed to permit the snow to fall directly into the pail. If accuracy of the snowfall measurements is important, the gauge should, of course, be shielded. 5, record 4, English, - weighing%20rain%20gauge
Record number: 4, Textual support number: 2 CONT
The two types of automatic rain gages used in the County are weighing buckets and tipping buckets. Most of the rainfall records in the County are collected with weighing bucket gages. A weighing bucket consists of a collection bucket for receiving and storing the precipitation, a weighing device for measurement, and an indicating dial to display, in inches, precipitation gathered by the collector. The weighing bucket mechanically converts the depth of accumulated precipitation during a given period(5 or 15 minutes), to a code disk position. This code disk position is recorded on punched paper tape at the selected intervals. 8, record 4, English, - weighing%20rain%20gauge

[World Meteorological Organization]. GAW was established in 1989 as a coordinated system of networks of observing stations some of which began data-gathering in the 1950s and includes associated facilities and infrastructure encompassing measurement and related scientific assessment activities. The overall role of GAW is to supply basic information... indicative of the atmospheric environment that transcends specific issues. The measurement programme includes : greenhouse gases, ozone..., radiation... and optical depth, precipitation chemistry, chemical and physical properties of aerosols, reactive gases, radionuclides, and related meteorological parameters. National and international policy decisions affecting the environment in the 21st century will thus relay heavily on the scientific data gathered through GAW. 2, record 11, English, - Global%20Atmosphere%20Watch

Lysocline separates the ocean’s sediments into two broad categories ... The lysocline moves in response to changes in the chemical composition of sea salt, always seeking a level that allows the loss of carbon from ocean water to match the rate of input of carbon to the ocean. 3, record 12, English, - lysocline
