For an operator, the accident simulation functionality could be used in a different way, to test several operating strategies and define the most efficient regarding core dewatering for instance. It could be used as well to assess the necessary water flow to be injected into the reactor coolant system to avoid core dewatering or if heat removal is sufficient to avoid core heat up.

Il y avait eu une perte, pendant près de 2 h et 20 min, de la deuxième barrière (l'enveloppe du circuit primaire, au niveau de la vanne de décharge PORV non refermée, ce que les opérateurs n'avaient pas compris), ayant entraîné un dénoyage important du cœur et la dégradation de la première barrière (rupture de gaines du combustible), alors que l'isolement de l'enceinte de confinement (la troisième et dernière barrière) n'était toujours pas effectué.
