[Cassava starch is the] principal industrial outlet for cassava. Cassava starch is used in the foodstuffs, textile and paper industries for the manufacture of plywood and veneer, adhesives, glucose and dextrine.

A first-rate quality starch can be obtained from cassava using only water, and this makes the processing of cassava starch and flour particularly suitable for developing countries and rural industries.

OBS

Tapioca is obtained from cassava starch, therefore neither tapioca nor tapioca starch can be synonyms of cassava starch.

A group of colloidal products formed by the hydrolysis of starches. Industrially, it is made by treatment of various starches with dilute acids or by heating dry starch. The yellow or white powder or granules are soluble in boiling water and insoluble in alcohol and ether.

Wet binders are aqueous solutions or emulsions which are usually applied by spray to the preform with the inherent disadvantage that a portion of the spray coats the side of the plenum chamber. The solvent or dispersing phase of the binder is nearly always water(...).
