The International System unit of activity of a radionuclide, equal to the activity of a quantity of a radionuclide having one spontaneous nuclear transition per second.

CONT

One becquerel equals one disintegration per second. The becquerel replaces the curie; 1 Bq is approximately equal to 27 picocuries.
