Macular surgery often requires high image resolution than is provided by the [wide-angle viewing systems]. In such a scenario, a macular lens is preferred to increase the magnification of the posterior pole for more delicate and precise surgical maneuvers, such as internal limiting membrane(ILM) and ERM [epiretinal membrane] dissection. These lenses provide a much smaller field of view, limiting their use to primarily posterior pole surgery. The view provided through these lenses is direct, thus inversion is not necessary. Most are contact lenses and require either a coupling agent or a handheld irrigation system... Lenses come in disposable and nondisposable forms. 1, record 1, English, - macular%20lens

An ultrasonic scalpel provides a focused area of dissection with excellent hemostasis. Since the tip vibrates, it becomes warm. An aortic dissection is a serious condition in which a tear occurs in the inner layer of the body's main artery(aorta). While sponge forceps have proven useful in a variety of new surgical techniques, their primary arena has traditionally been gynecological, surgical female sterilization, and abortion procedures. This is because sponge forceps have the ability to grip and manipulate tissue during examinations and minor surgeries with a minimum of damage and trauma. ... Surgeons consider them standard thoracic instruments when performing lung surgeries such as bullectomies. The blunt tips these devices offer prove excellent tools to grasp and collapse the lung and manipulate lung tissue for complete exploration. ... Surgeons will also use sponge-holding forceps with tonsil wipes to treat pleural abrasions, and they will often use them in colposcopy operations to hold dry or moist cotton balls. Juvenile salmonids have been tagged with coded wires in northwestern North America for about 20 years... By this method, a 1-mm length of wire is given a binary code and inserted with an injector into the nasal region of a young fish. The adipose fin is removed and the tagged fish are then released for their seaward migrations. The returning adults are identified by the missing adipose fin. Their snouts are then removed and passed through a magnetometer to locate the wire, which is removed and decoded. 2, record 27, French, - escarpement%20de%20faille%20rajeuni

There is a technique called sentinel lymph node sampling that removes fewer lymph nodes than a traditional complete axillary node dissection. Many women are candidates for the sentinel lymph node technique, which has fewer complications than the complete axillary node dissection. If, however, there is cancer present in the sentinel lymph nodes, then more nodes are removed and this is referred to as a complete level 1 and level 2 axillary lymph node dissection. 4, record 38, English, - sentinel%20lymph%20node%20sampling

Dissecting aneurysm... is a lesion which occurs when blood is forced through an intimal defect into the wall of an artery, under arterial pressure. This may lead to extension of a column of blood that may travel for a considerable distance along the arterial media, and separate the wall into two planes--hence, the word "dissection. "(Actually, the term "dissecting aneurysm" is a misnomer, since there is not actually an arterial dilatation. A more accurate term is "dissecting hematoma. ").... There are two ways to classify dissecting aneurysms according to their location. The simpler of these systems designates a dissecting aneurysm as "type A" if it involves the ascending aorta and "type B" if it is confined to the descending aorta. 1, record 42, English, - dissecting%20hematoma

The carcasses were immediately scalded, feather picked and eviscerated, and then chilled overnight in a refrigerator at 4 degree in order to facilitate the removal of the abdominal pad. The dissection of carcasses was performed according to the procedure described by Jensen(1984), and the abdominal fat pad was removed according to the method outlined by Fancher & Jensen(1989). From one side breast and one thigh plus drumstick of each bird, meat(with skin) was excised and weighed separately. Total meat yields for both breast and thighs(including drumsticks) were calculated as the amount of meat excises xx 2. Weights of the dissected parts of the carcasses and of breast and thigh meat were determined to the nearest 1 g, while those of the abdominal fat pad and organs(liver, heart and gizzard) were measured to the nearest 0.., 1 g. Samples of liver, breast meat and thigh plus drumstick meat were removed and frozen(-20 degree) until analysed. 2, record 55, English, - abdominal%20fat%20pad
