Venous thoracic outlet syndrome is caused by compression or occlusion of the subclavian vein as it passes through the thoracic outlet and can be either thrombotic or non-thrombotic. It is characterised by swelling of the affected arm, forearm and hand. This may be associated with distal cyanosis, arm pain, or in more severe cases paraesthesia. 4, record 2, English, - venous%20thoracic%20outlet%20syndrome

ATOS is the least common form of TOS [thoracic outlet syndrome]... However, of the TOS subtypes, ATOS has the greatest potential for serious complications, and therefore surgical intervention is promptly warranted in patients demonstrating arterial compression. Thoracic outlet compression on the subclavian artery(SCA) can cause poststenotic dilation, leading to aneurysm formation, which can result in distal thromboembolism and further ischemic complications. Embolization to the arm or hand is common in patients with ATOS, usually causing discoloration of the affected upper extremity.... Patients can present in several ways, but all have in common an abnormality at the SCA usually combined with a bony abnormality. 4, record 3, English, - arterial%20thoracic%20outlet%20syndrome

A Roux limb may be formed in multiple different gastrointestinal surgeries, including bariatric surgery, e. g. Roux-en-Y gastric bypass [and] biliopancreatic diversion... In these procedures, the small bowel is divided at some point. This leaves two components of small bowel : a proximal component connected to the stomach, pancreas, and biliary system [and] a distal component connected to the terminal ileum and colon. The end of the distal component is dragged up and connected(anastomosed) to the remnant stomach... This is the Roux limb. It accepts incoming food and transmits it from the gastric remnant to the colon. 3, record 13, English, - Roux%20limb

Les lignes à main peuvent être mises à l'eau et relevées manuellement ou à l'aide d'un moulinet mécanisé. Diuresis can be induced osmotically or, more commonly, by pharmacologic blockade of sodium reabsorption at various sites along the nephron. The basic rule is that, although they can modulate a greater bulk of sodium, efficacy of proximal diuretics may be overcome by distal compensatory increases in sodium reabsorption in the loop of Henle. The efficacy of distal diuretics on the other side is limited by the small portion of sodium actually reaching the distal tubule. 4, record 17, English, - distal%20diuretic

In the jerk test of Hughston, the examiner flexes the knee to about 60°, grasps and internally rotates the distal tibia, and with his other hand applies a valgus stress to the knee. He then gradually extends the knee, maintaining the internal rotation and valgus pressure. The femoral condyle remains behind the summit of the plateau until, at about 20-30° flexion, the tightening posterior structures of the popliteus corner pull the tibial plateau back, and the subluxation relocates with a jerk. Mallet finger. Sudden, unexpected passive flexion of the distal interphalangeal joint with the extensor tendon under tension may avulse a fragment of bone from the base of the distal phalanx into which the tendon is inserted.
