DISTAL FRAGMENT [8 records]

Record 1 2013-12-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Symptoms (Medicine)
  • Bones and Joints
DEF

Permanent flexion of the terminal distal phalanx of the finger.

CONT

Mallet finger. Sudden, unexpected passive flexion of the distal interphalangeal joint with the extensor tendon under tension may avulse a fragment of bone from the base of the distal phalanx into which the tendon is inserted. Alternatively, the extensor tendon may rupture just proximal to its insertion. In either case, the distal interphalangeal joint remains flexed and can no longer be actively extended.

OBS

mallet finger: term recommended by the Medical Signs and Symptoms Committee.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Symptômes (Médecine)
  • Os et articulations
DEF

Flexion permanente de l'interphalangienne distale.

CONT

Record 2 2013-12-17

English

Subject field(s)
  • Symptoms (Medicine)
  • Bones and Joints
DEF

The peculiar deformity seen in Colles’ fractures, due to dorsal displacement of the distal radial fragment.

OBS

... so named because the relationship between the forearm and the wrist assumes the shape of a dinner fork.

OBS

silver-fork deformity: term recommended by the Medical Signs and Symptoms Committee.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Symptômes (Médecine)
  • Os et articulations
DEF

  • Musculoskeletal System
  • Bones and Joints
DEF

Transverse fracture of the distal radial metaphysis with anterior displacement of the distal fracture fragment. The fracture may be intraarticular.

OBS

As originally described by Smith, this fracture involved a dorsal displacement of the distal ulna, which is not the case in its current use.

DEF

Record 5 2002-05-30

English

Subject field(s)
  • Bones and Joints
CONT

Fractures are described using Ogden et al. classification : type I is an avulsion fracture of the most distal portion of the ossification center of the tubercle; type II, an upward angulation of the lip fragment; type III, a fracture of the lip fragment with propagation of the fracture line into the knee joint.

French

Domaine(s)

CONT
