DISTAL TIBIA [18 records]

Record 1 2017-06-20

English

Subject field(s)
  • Diagnostic Procedures (Medicine)
  • Bones and Joints
DEF

A test of rupture of the anterior cruciate and medial collateral ligaments of the knee. The knee can be subluxed anteriorly with external rotaion of the tibia, but the knee cannot be subluxed anteriorly with forced internal rotation of the tibia.

CONT

In Slocum's test, the patient is positioned laterally with the healthy side down. The leg with the injured knee rests only on the medial side of the foot; the knee is unsupported. The examiner grasps the distal femur with one hand and the proximal tibia with the other and slowly flexes the knee. Again, a subluxation sign can be observed at about 30° flexion if anterior cruciate insufficiency is present.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Méthodes diagnostiques (Médecine)
  • Os et articulations
CONT

Record 2 2017-06-19

English

Subject field(s)
  • Symptoms (Medicine)
  • Musculoskeletal System
CONT

In the jerk test of Hughston, the examiner flexes the knee to about 60°, grasps and internally rotates the distal tibia, and with his other hand applies a valgus stress to the knee. He then gradually extends the knee, maintaining the internal rotation and valgus pressure. The femoral condyle remains behind the summit of the plateau until, at about 20-30° flexion, the tightening posterior structures of the popliteus corner pull the tibial plateau back, and the subluxation relocates with a jerk. This test is positive in essentially the same injuries as the lateral pivot shift test of McIntosh...

French

Domaine(s)
  • Symptômes (Médecine)
  • Appareil locomoteur (Médecine)
DEF

DEF

Palpable, intra-and/or subcutaneous deposits, usually located on digits or over large proximal joints(e. g., elbows, knees) or extensor surfaces of distal extremities(e. g., ulna, tibia). These masses are rock-hard; they may ulcerate the skin and drain gritty calcareous(toothpaste-like) material. OBS
