The jigging cycle for coal may be represented as a sine wave... in which water velocity is plotted against time. Starting from rest, the water commences to rise through the closely packed bed of coal with increasing velocity. Dilation of this bed begins with the loosening of the uppermost stratum.(In jigging coal it is possible to apply water so as to toss the whole bed solidly upward and then to allow it to open out upward and downward, but this is not feasible with heavy minerals.) As the water column attains a rising velocity of 100 mm./sec., the upper part of the coal bed opens and begins to teeter. Velocity continues to increase, and layer after layer opens until the whole bed is dilated and teetering. Then, as the pulsion stroke passes its peak, the velocity of the water lessens and the suction stroke begins. 5, record 3, English, - dilation

Cloud-to-ground [discharge. ]... Once a sufficiently high voltage difference exists for electrical breakdown to begin in the cloud, a streamer of electrons develops. This, in turn, can become a "stepped leader, "which approaches the earth in a series of rapid steps... The stepped leader produces an ionized channel(molecules in its path are stripped of electrons) and tends to follow a downward branching path. As soon as one of the branches is within five to 50 meters of the surface, another streamer advances upward to meet it along the path of least resistance(often through tall and pointed objects). Now an ionized path a few centimeters in diameter connects earth with cloud. Next, the "return stroke, "which carries a surge of current, travels up the ionized channel, lighting up the paths taken by the stepped leader. 4, record 4, English, - channel

Another process somewhat related to extrusion blow molding is the extrusion/molded neck process. Still used today by Owens-Illinois, this is a proprietary process that traces its roots to glass-blowing technology. It is unique in that the bottle neck finish is injection molded and the bottle body is extrusion blow-molded. In this process, the two halves of a neck finish cavity or neckring are mounted to an actuating head assembly, which intermeshes with the two halves of the blow-mold cavity. The process cycle begins with the main body mold cavity open and the neckring cavity closed. The actuating head assembly moves downward to contact the extrusion die head. When it is in position, extrusion pressure fills the neck section with plastic melt. After it is held for one to two seconds, the head assembly moves upward while, simultaneously, the parison is extruded. When the head assembly reaches the top of its stroke, the blow-mold cavity closes on the parison. The remaining steps of parison pinch-off, blowing, and part removal all follow conventional techniques. Although the production cycle is somewhat slow, the process offers the quality advantage of an accurately molded neck and the process advantage of a parison held at both ends. 1, record 8, English, - extrusion%20molded%20neck%20blow%2Dmolding%20process
