3, record 5, French, - gloire

Thermohaline convection is a wellknown process in oceanography : warm salted layers on the top of cool unsalted ones rapidly diffuse downwards even in the presence of stabilizing temperature gradients, due to the different diffusivities of heat and salt. When a warm salted blob falls down in cool fresh water, the heat diffuses out more quickly than the salt. The blob goes on falling due to its weight until it mixes with the surroundings... 1, record 7, English, - thermohaline%20convection

2, record 45, French, - chambre%20de%20d%C3%A9tection

A rollover anticline is directly the result of faulting. The idea is that an extensional fault... can form with a non-smooth shape... New sediments are deposited on the downthrown block as the fault moves. They are originally deposited as flat-lying units(zero dip). As they displace downwards, they maintain a constant angle of inclination relative to the fault dip. If the fault surface becomes less steep... with depth, the beds become increasingly tilted(to keep the same angle between fault surface and bedding surface).... The tilting produced by the fault... causes the beds to dip in the opposite direction... towards the basin margin. The reversal of dip makes an anticline. 3, record 48, English, - rollover%20anticline

When a pyranometer is oriented downwards it measures the reflected shortwave radiation, and is thus called an albedometer. When two pyranometers are associated, one oriented upwards and the other downwards, the net short wave radiation is measured. The instrument is then called a net pyranometer. A point of caution is that any instrument used as an albedometer or net pyranometer must have mil sensitivity to all spectra of visible light. This is important since the composition of reflected light from vegetation is highly biased toward green. 3, record 52, English, - net%20pyranometer

The world's largest, single lead-zinc orebody occurs at Sullivan, British Columbia. The host rocks are late Precambrian argillites.... This deposit appears to be syngenetic and the lead-zinc minerals form an integral part of the rocks in which they occur. They are affected by sedimentary deformation such as slumping, pull apart structures, load casting, etc.... Beneath the central part of the orebody there is a roughly funnel-shaped zone of brecciation and tourmalinization which extends downwards... In places, the matrix of the breccia is heavily mineralized with pyrrhotite... This zone may have been a channelway up which solutions moved to debouch on to the seafloor, to precipitate the ore minerals among the accumulating sediment. If this was the case, then Sullivan could be called a sedimentary-exhalative deposit. 5, record 63, English, - sedimentary%20exhalative%20deposit

In most wrapping machines the loaves pass along a travelling band from the slicer, although the wrapper can be used independent of the slicer. As the loaves move along they pass under a roll of waxed wrapping paper, while two jaws move downwards and pick up the loaf inside a piece of paper of a size sufficient to enclose it, a self-measuring mechanism controlling this action. Then, by means of sliding plates which are timed so as to complete one operation after another, the paper is folded round the loaf. The loaf then travels along another band and passes between two plates, electrically heated, which melt the wax of the paper and so seal up the package. 4, record 97, English, - wrapping%20machine
