3, record 1, French, - plong%C3%A9e%20d%27eau

In order to calibrate the sensor, it is essential to know the atmospheric conditions at the time of data acquisition over the known reference site so that data normalization could be carried out by computing the atmospheric transmittance, path radiance and total downwelling irradiance incident on the calibration site. Further, it is also necessary to know the background reflectance of the area in which the calibration site is located. 2, record 2, English, - calibration%20site

Horizontal water motion of the ocean due to the stress exerted on its surface by the wind. 2, record 3, English, - wind%2Ddriven%20oceanic%20circulation
Record number: 3, Textual support number: 1 CONT
The main principles of wind-driven ocean circulation are as follows. 1. Wind stress causes transport of water in a thin Ekman surface layer. 2. If there is a curl to the wind stress, the Ekman layer transport will converge or diverge, causing downwelling or upwelling. 3. The downwelling or upwelling motions cause fluid columns to squash or stretch vertically, and this causes slow southward or northward flow due to conservation of potential vorticity. 4. The southward or northward flow is determined by the Sverdrup relationship, which links the N-S transport of water with the curl of the wind stress. In order to conserve mass, the water returns to its original position via a relatively thin boundary layer adjacent to the western edge of the basin. 3, record 3, English, - wind%2Ddriven%20oceanic%20circulation
