Tranq dope is an ever-fluctuating blend of xylazine, a sedative, and usually an opioid, with each type of drug binding to different brain receptors. 2, record 6, English, - tranq%20dope
Record number: 6, Textual support number: 2 CONT
Both xylazine and fentanyl are psychoactive and add to the effects that a user experiences. Fentanyl is a short-acting drug and the addition of xylazine extends the resulting feeling of euphoria to mimic the effects of heroin. However, many users are unaware that the heroin is adulterated(or "cut") with these other substances, and this can lead to unintended side effects and even overdose. For example, when xylazine is injected it can cause open wounds such as skin ulcers and abscesses to form. With long-term use, these lesions can become widespread across the arms and legs causing tissue death, hence its nickname : the zombie drug. 3, record 6, English, - tranq%20dope

1, record 6, French, - drogue%20du%20zombie
Record number: 6, Textual support number: 1 OBS
La consommation chronique de xylazine peut aussi entraîner d'importantes lésions cutanées et nécroses des tissus. La drogue contracte les vaisseaux sanguins, ce qui nuit à la bonne oxygénation de la peau et favorise le développement d'infections. 1, record 6, French, - drogue%20du%20zombie

Tolerance(the need for more and more of a substance to get the same effect) can... be physiological and psychological. Physiological tolerance results from the repeated effects on the brain from daily doses of drugs such as alcohol, methamphetamines, nicotine opioids. Brain neural circuitry involving dopamine neurons adapts to the addition of the drug and reduces the responsiveness of the dopamine receptors... Psychological tolerance is the need for more of the substance to get the same sense of euphoria. 2, record 25, French, - stup%C3%A9fiant

The receptors have a widespread tissue distribution and are a major drug target in human disease. Crystal methamphetamine is a colorless, odorless form of d-methamphetamine, a powerful and highly addictive synthetic(man-made) stimulant. Crystal methamphetamine typically resembles small fragments of glass or shiny blue-white "rocks" of various sizes. Like powdered methamphetamine(another form of d-methamphetamine), crystal methamphetamine is abused because of the long-lasting euphoric effects it produces. Crystal methamphetamine, however, typically has a higher purity level and may produce even longer-lasting and more intense physiological effects than the powdered form of the drug. 2, record 36, English, - crystal%20methamphetamine%20hydrochloride

Crystal methamphetamine use is associated with numerous serious physical problems. The drug can cause rapid heart rate, increased blood pressure, and damage to the small blood vessels in the brain--which can lead to stroke. Chronic use of the drug can result in inflammation of the heart lining. Overdoses can cause hyperthermia (elevated body temperature), convulsions, and death. 2, record 36, English, - crystal%20methamphetamine%20hydrochloride

In another application of gene therapy we have used an adenoviral vector that carries the gene for herpes simplex virus thymidine kinase(HSV-tk). Cells expressing HSV-tk will convert the anti-viral drug ganciclovir(GCV) to a form that is toxic to rapidly dividing cells. Using this adenoviral vector we have repeatedly shown robust tumoricidal effects in a variety of animal models of CNS tumor and will soon take this treatment to phase I clinical trials. We are extending this work to the manipulation of the CNSs immune response to tumors using adenoviral vectors that carry several cytokine genes. 1, record 46, English, - herpes%20simplex%20virus%20thymidine%20kinase

The Heads of State of Government expressed grave concern over the growing magnitude and the serious effects of drug abuse, particularly among young people, and drug trafficking. They recognised the need for urgent and effective measures to eradicate this evil and decided to declare the year 1989 as the "SAARC Year for Combating Drug Abuse and Drug Trafficking". They agreed to launch a concerted campaign, as suited to the situation in their respective countries, to significantly augment SAARC efforts to eliminate drug abuse and drug trafficking. These included closer cooperation in creating a greater awareness of the hazards of drug abuse, exchange of expertise, sharing of intelligence information, stringent measures to stop trafficking in drugs and introduction of more effective laws. 1, record 53, English, - SAARC%20Year%20for%20Combatting%20Drug%20Abuse%20and%20Drug%20Trafficking

In the spoken language we find nonsense words, grammatical errors, mispronunciations, and fad words and phrases which have a brief period of popularity and are then discarded ... it includes what in America is considered "colloquial" and "slang", and in France "familier, populaire, langue verte and argot ..."
