An increase in wages or salary means that the wage or salary amount is augmented, enlarged, or expanded. This implies that an amount was added to the wages or salary, therefore, constituting a newly agreed rate of pay for the work performed. Often an increase of salary is given retroactively. This occurs during contract renewal where workers continue to perform their duties at their former rate of pay while the contract is being negotiated. When the contract is finally signed and there is a new agreement as to an increased salary level, that new salary is often effective at an earlier date. In this case, payment must be made retroactively to compensate for the difference under the old contract and the increased salary level under the new contract. In other cases, an employer may unilaterally give an increase in salary that may also be retroactive. These retroactive increases in wages or salary are specifically excluded from consideration as earnings.

Au Canada, le fait pour le vérificateur d'utiliser deux dates dans son rapport lorsque les états financiers rendent compte d'un fait survenu après la date initiale du rapport, mais avant que ce rapport n'ait été délivré. Le rapport du vérificateur portera la date initiale et une mention de la date qui a trait exclusivement au fait en cause. Dans ce cas, la responsabilité du vérificateur pour la période qui suit la date initiale du rapport se limite à la vérification de l'information relative au fait en cause. Le vérificateur n'a pas l'obligation de pousser plus avant son travail et de faire porter l'ensemble de son opinion sur une période englobant la date à laquelle le fait s'est produit.

To identify QTLs associated with horticultural yield it is necessary to conduct replicated plot trials of the tested genotypes. The first step in the utilization of an introgression-line (IL) population of Lycopersicon pennellii in a processing-tomato variety (M82) for mapping such QTLs was to screen 51 ILs in a non-replicated plot trial. The results of this survey were compared to those obtained in a replicated trial of the same genotypes grown as single plants at wide spacing.
