There has been a continuing trend toward the development of earlier maturing varieties of wheat. The advantages of early maturity are many. Early wheat often escapes damage from heat, drought, insects, or disease(and early harvest) is advantageous in areas where multiple cropping is practiced. 1, record 1, English, - early%20maturity

... 30 days earlier seeding does not mean you get a 30 day earlier harvest. It might give you only 10 early days at the end of the growing season. But that 10 days is nothing to sneeze at. Having early crop on some fields lets you harvest them earlier, which reduces risk of frost, hail, wind, insects and other enemies. Early harvests often produce higher grade and they spread the workload. 2, record 2, English, - early%20crop

Hospitals provide certain types of medical care to many patients that cannot be performed in a home environment. This is often the case with specific illnesses, surgeries, and other medical procedures that require a high level of monitoring of the patient. When medical conditions improve to the point that only occasional monitoring is required, patients can be released from the hospital or medical facility.... Simmental is an influential breed of cattle whose history dates back to the Middle Ages. Early records indicate that Simmental cattle were the result of a cross between large German cattle and a smaller breed indigenous to Switzerland. The name Simmental is derived from the name of the area where the cattle were first bred-the Simme Valley. 2, record 13, English, - Simmental

Age-related macular degeneration is the most common cause of severe loss of eyesight among people 50 and older. Only the center of vision is affected with this disease. It is important to realize that people rarely go blind from it. AMD affects the central vision, and with it, the ability to see fine details. In AMD, a part of the retina called the macula is damaged. In advanced stages, people lose their ability to drive, to see faces, and to read smaller print. In its early stages, AMD may have no signs or symptoms, so people may not suspect they have it. 6, record 15, English, - age%2Drelated%20macular%20degeneration

Police statistics on crime were first published in Canada in 1921 as a section of Criminal Statistics, 1920. These statistics were provided in the early years by only a small and incomplete number of municipal police forces. Over the ensuing four decades, there was a gradual increase in the number of police forces reporting and in the detail of the figures they reported. These statistics did not at all provide a full picture of crime or law enforcement in Canada, and were not comparable from year to year until 1 January 1962, when the Uniform Crime Reporting(UCR) System commenced. This system was developed by the Dominion Bureau of Statistics in concert with the Canadian Association of Chiefs of Police, Committee on the Uniform Recording of Police Statistics. The UCR system was designed to provide more complete, accurate, and standardized(comparable) statistics on crime and police activity in Canada than had previously been possible. 1, record 26, English, - Uniform%20Crime%20Reporting%20System

1, record 26, French, - Syst%C3%A8me%20de%20d%C3%A9claration%20uniforme%20de%20la%20criminalit%C3%A9

A nutrition transition describes dietary and nutritional changes driven by economic, social, and demographic shifts... The most common contemporary nutrition transition is from a diet of relatively diverse low-fat, low-salt, high-fiber foods acquired via physically intensive labor to a low-diversity, low-fiber diet of refined and processed foods high in calories, fat, salt, cholesterol, and sugar. In early transitional stages these changes can improve food security and health, but they have also been linked to the increase in chronic noninfectious diseases [e. g., obesity, atherosclerosis, type 2 diabetes(T2D) ]... 2, record 38, English, - nutrition%20transition

St. Patrick's Day is observed each year on March 17. St. Patrick's Day is not an official national holiday in Canada. It is, however, a provincial holiday in Newfoundland. St. Patrick's Day invokes the spirit of St. Patrick, the patron saint of Ireland who is credited with bringing Christianity to the island. Observed as a religious occasion in Ireland, in Canada, it is often marked with festive parades and the wearing of green. It is believed that Patrick was born in Kilpatrick Scotland. When Patrick was in his early teens, he was captured during a raid and taken to Ireland as a slave. There he learned to tend and herd sheep. At this time, Druids and pagans occupied Ireland. Patrick learned the practices and language of his captors. Because of the hardships he faced, Patrick turned to God. When Patrick was twenty, God came to him in a dream and advised him to go to the coast. Patrick escaped and sailers took him back to Britain where he was reunited with his parents. But Ireland beckoned to the young man through is dreams, so Patrick entered the priesthood, was ordained as a bishop and returned to the Emerald Isle in March 433. He traveled across the country converting the people to Christianity. 1, record 53, English, - St%2E%20Patrick%26rsquo%3Bs%20Day

Gateway drugs are substances that, when used, may lead individuals to experiment with and potentially escalate to more dangerous and addictive drugs.... Commonly recognized gateway drugs include tobacco, alcohol, and marijuana, although the list is not exhaustive. They are often the first substances individuals encounter due to their accessibility, societal acceptance, or peer influence. While not everyone who uses these gateway substances progresses to more potent drugs, research suggests a correlation between early exposure to these substances and an increased likelihood of experimenting with more dangerous drugs. 2, record 70, English, - gateway%20drug

[Canada] relies in particular on bilateral agreements with provinces and territories for the transfer of funds.... In the case of Quebec[, ] we have asymmetrical agreements to ensure that Quebec—in recognition of the investments made and the success of its system—is not held to the same reporting requirements as other provinces and territories... within the multilateral early learning and child care framework... The Quebec agreement, the asymmetrical agreement, is different in a few important ways. Quebec is not required to provide the federal government with action plans outlining in detail how they will invest funding.... Quebec reports within the province to its population and is not required to submit audited financial statements or annual reporting in the same way that other provinces and territories in the country are. 2, record 97, English, - asymmetrical%20agreement

2, record 97, French, - entente%20asym%C3%A9trique

The government's economic plan is helping Canadians navigate these economic headwinds. Investments in Canadians, ranging from the Canada Child Benefit, to enhanced benefits and pensions for seniors, to stronger public health care and a Canada-wide system of affordable early learning and child care, have supported Canadians’ incomes and higher numbers of Canadians participating in the labour force, including a record number of working-age women. 2, record 98, English, - government%26rsquo%3Bs%20economic%20plan

2, record 98, French, - plan%20%C3%A9conomique%20du%20gouvernement
