... 30 days earlier seeding does not mean you get a 30 day earlier harvest. It might give you only 10 early days at the end of the growing season. But that 10 days is nothing to sneeze at. Having early crop on some fields lets you harvest them earlier, which reduces risk of frost, hail, wind, insects and other enemies. Early harvests often produce higher grade and they spread the workload. 2, record 1, English, - early%20crop

12, record 7, French, - module%20de%20jonction%20Unity

Didymella applanata, a fungus. The disease is found in western Oregon and Washington on red rasberry, ’Loganberry’, and ’Youngberry’. The ’Willamette’ cultivar of red raspberry is rapidly infected by spur blight but also is tolerant and can produce a satisfactory crop even if disease incidence is high. From early April mature black fruiting bodies(perithecia) can be found in the gray affected areas of cane tissue. Perithecia discharge ascospores during favorable(wet) weather, continuing perhaps until the end of June. The common law rule that a tenant at the end of his tenancy had no claim against his landlord for any improvements or crops left on the land had an early exception in the doctrine of emblements, an exception which was well established by the reign of Edward IV. The word "emblements" means a right given by law in certain cases to the tenant of an estate of uncertain duration which has unexpectedly determined, without any fault of such tenant, to take the crops growing upon the land when his estate determines, although the estate itself has ceased. It is derived from the French "emblavence de bled"(corn sprung or put above ground), and strictly signifies the growing crops of sown land; but the doctrine of emblements extends not only to corn sown, but to roots planted and potatoes, and other annual artificial products. The growing crops of those vegetable productions of the soil which are annually produced by the labour of the cultivator are emblements.(Woodfall' s, 28th ed., 1978, p. 2044) 1, record 14, English, - doctrine%20of%20emblements

7, record 15, French, - module%20de%20service%20russe%20Svezda

The drawbridge of ancient and medieval periods was built for military purposes. It was constructed to bridge the moat around the castle or fortified town and to be raised in case of attack. The open leaf also constituted an additional barricade across the entrance to the fortification. Many of these early structures were operated by a lever system. One end of the lever was connected to the free end of the span by chains, and the other was actually counterweighted. An arrangement of counterweights attached to chains running over pulleys and connected to the free end of the span was also much in use. 1, record 16, English, - drawbridge

"Long" is an informal expression used to indicate that a shot went out past the baseline. Important nuance : a "stroke" implies early preparation and a complete follow through. If one were to envision a stroke, one would see a series of sequences, ending with a "shot", i. e. the result of all of the above. Consequently, a "shot" is the result of the "stroke". "Shot" implies a quick, sharp movement because one is focusing on the end result, not the series of sequences leading up to it. A "blow" is rather an imprecise, general term similar in meaning to "shot". Although many would like to maintain these nuances in English, "shot" and "stroke" are often used synonymously. "Blow" is used only rarely. Note, however that although there are two possible equivalents("coup" and "frappe") in French, neither are semantically identical to the English offerings. The Spanish term "pegada" works well as an equivalent for "shot", although technically the term more specifically refers to the actual hitting action caused by the racket coming in contact with the ball, and not to the end result [cause vs effect]. 2, record 17, English, - shot

1, record 19, French, - tube%20de%20Crookes

A lease providing that the rental shall be increased or "stepped up" at the end of various stipulated periods in the future. Primarily, this type of lease is brought about by the insistence of the lessor to participate in expected future increased earning power of the property. However, this type of lease may be entered into in order to provide a lower rental during the early life of the lease to enable the lessee to build up his business, become established and lessen the possibility of failure. Although seldom used, there is a reverse or "stepdown" lease, which provides for higher rents during the first periods of the lease and lower rents during the latter periods. 2, record 21, English, - step%2Dup%20lease

During a turn the nose of the aircraft is continually pitching up. Your pitch gyro will see this and attempt to stop it. This results in the nose dropping, and a decrease in altitude. Your pressure sensor will sense this loss of altitude and attempt to correct it. So, effectively, the gyro and pressure sensor will be working against each other(slightly) and the end result is that your plane will not hold the desired altitude, but one slightly lower than the desired altitude. This is especially true in the early portions of the turn. 2, record 41, English, - pitch%20gyro

Early milling tools were small implements used exclusively in the home to provide for one family's needs. It wasn’t until about 3, 000 years ago that people began to make larger saddlestones with increased output. The improved equipment meant that one person was able to produce more than their own family's needs; thus the professional miller was born. The first commercial establishments were combination mill-bakeries, the end product being leavened bread, for by this time the use of fermenting agents to aerate the flat clay-like cakes had also been discovered. 1, record 42, English, - saddlestone

1, record 42, French, - meule%20en%20dos%20d%27%C3%A2ne

"Blow" is not a standard term used in tennis circles. However it can be used to describe the hitting the ball with the tennis racket. Related terms : drive, shot. Important nuance : a "stroke" implies early preparation and a complete follow through. If one were to envision a stroke, one would see a series of sequences, ending with a "shot", i. e. the result of all of the above. A "shot" implies a quick, sharp movement because one is focusing on the end result, not the series of sequences leading up to it. A "blow" is rather a blunt, general term similar in meaning to "shot". Although many would like to maintain these nuances in English, "shot" and "stroke" can often be used synonymously. "Blow" is used only rarely. Note, however that although there are two possible equivalents("coup" and "frappe") in French, neither are semantically identical to the English offerings. 2, record 49, English, - blow
