... 30 days earlier seeding does not mean you get a 30 day earlier harvest. It might give you only 10 early days at the end of the growing season. But that 10 days is nothing to sneeze at. Having early crop on some fields lets you harvest them earlier, which reduces risk of frost, hail, wind, insects and other enemies. Early harvests often produce higher grade and they spread the workload. 2, record 1, English, - early%20crop

2, record 1, French, - r%C3%A9colte%20pr%C3%A9coce

Wheat was introduced into Western Canada in 1812 by the Selkirk Settlers who settled in the Red River Valley of Manitoba. There were many difficult years in the early history of wheat production. On a number of occasions almost entire crops were destroyed by grasshoppers, rust epidemics and frost. With the introduction of earlier maturing and more disease resistant varieties, the industry progressed in keeping with growth of population. The first wheat exported from Manitoba was 23 tonnes of Red Fife seed to Ontario in 1876. 1, record 11, English, - Selkirk%20Settlers

Frost seeding is a popular method of improving long term pastures or patching hayfields for one more year of production... As the ground freezes and thaws, it opens and closes allowing the seed to roll down below the soil surface. This keeps the seed from germinating until there is a good moisture supply early in the spring. [Source : Ontario Ministry of Agriculture] 1, record 12, English, - frost%20seeding

It's a good idea to prepare your garden soil a couple of weeks ahead of planting, too. Tilling the soil early will fool weeds into germinating early, and you can then pull them to reduce competition with your seedlings. When there is no longer any risk of frost, take the seedlings out of the pots and plant them into the garden. Water regularly(but don’t over water) and feed with a high quality fertilizer like PINK Vigoro or Instant Vigoro Water Soluble Plant Starter 10-52-10. 1, record 13, English, - plant%20starter

It’s time to repot when you notice either of the following conditions: your plant needs water daily because it won’t hold any moisture or large roots are pushing through the drain hole. In both cases the root system has grown so big that very little soil is left in the pot. Find a slightly larger container, and transplant using good quality soil. To avoid or minimize transplant shock handle the roots gently and water well after repotting. A good plant starter fertilizer like 10-52-10 will help encourage root growth. 2, record 13, English, - plant%20starter
