Simmental is an influential breed of cattle whose history dates back to the Middle Ages. Early records indicate that Simmental cattle were the result of a cross between large German cattle and a smaller breed indigenous to Switzerland. The name Simmental is derived from the name of the area where the cattle were first bred-the Simme Valley. 2, record 1, English, - Simmental

Office of the Commissioner of Review Tribunals, Ottawa, 2002. This paper offers a policy and political history of the disability benefit component of the Canada Pension Plan(CPP), the "poor cousin" of this public contributory pension plan. Broad policy trends and program developments are the focus, highlighting the role of Ministers, Members of Parliament, public servants, policy advisors and other political actors. To do so, the paper examines the pension reform agendas and records of the Pearson, Trudeau, Mulroney and Chrétien governments. The analysis covers the origins, early implementation, liberalization of benefits, and the more recent restraint and reorientation of the disability benefit program. 2, record 16, English, - Wrestling%20With%20The%20Poor%20Cousin%3A%20Canada%20Pension%20Plan%20Disability%20Policy%20and%20Practice%2C%201964%20%2D%202001

2, record 16, French, - Le%20sort%20r%C3%A9serv%C3%A9%20au%20parent%20pauvre%20%3A%20R%C3%A9gime%20de%20pensions%20du%20Canada%20politique%20et%20pratique%20en%20mati%C3%A8re%20d%27invalidit%C3%A9%2C%201964%20%2D%202001

[History of Inuit Art :] Historical Overview of Epochs... People have been living in the Yukon region for almost 30 000 years and their history can be separated into several epochs : Pre-Dorset, Dorset, Thule, Historic and Contemporary.... The Historical Period[. ] This period is marked by several occurrences : the demise of Thule culture, a climatic change wherein weather was increasingly cold, the disappearance of the whales and the arrival of the white man in the 16th century. Around 1800, the various carvings, dolls, and toys were being traded with the whalers, sailors and explorers who were making increasingly frequent visits in the area. Trade art often was more detailed and exquisite than non-trade art of the time. By the early twentieth century, trade art had lost the magico-religious element and some areas even produced European objects such as Roman Catholic figurines, cigarette boxes, and cribbage boards. Increasingly, Inuit art forms were suited toward Europeans. 1, record 17, English, - Historical%20Period

A Duma is any of various representative assemblies in modern Russia and Russian history. The State Duma in the Russian Empire and Russian Federation corresponds to the lower house of the parliament. It is also the term for a council to early Russian rulers(Boyar Duma), as well as for city councils in Imperial Russia(Municipal dumas), and city and regional legislative bodies in the Russian Federation. The term comes from the Russian word(dumat), "to think" or "to consider". Boyar Duma was an advisory council to the grand princes and tsars of Muscovy. The Duma was discontinued by Peter the Great, who transferred its functions to the Governing Senate in 1721. However, the Duma would be re-introduced later in Russian history by Tsar Nicholas II, in the pre-Revolutionary period(1905), with the aid of his many advisors such as Pyotr Stolypin, amongst others. 1, record 25, English, - Duma

1, record 25, French, - Douma

The ministère du Développement économique, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation has a rich and interesting history. It began in 1935, when the mandate of the ministère des Affaires municipales was broadened to include industry and trade, two sectors of increasing importance to the government. In 1943, the ministère de l'Industrie et du Commerce was founded. Over the years, other mandates were grafted onto its mission : technology in 1988, science in 1994, and external trade in 1996. In 1998, the science and technology mandates were entrusted to the ministère de la Recherche, de la Science et de la Technologie, which, in its early days, was charged with devising a scientific policy to bring about a new convergence between universities, industry and government. In 1998, the ministère des Régions was created as a successor to the Secrétariat au développement des régions in order to implement the new policy to support local and regional development, with a view to promoting and assisting the development of the regions and ensuring consistent government action. On April 29, 2003, the Premier announced the creation of the ministère du Développement économique et régional(MDER) out of these four entities. The purpose of the merger was to improve intervention targeting regional businesses and stakeholders by simplifying it and making it more coherent and efficient. In April 2004, "Recherche" was added to the MDER's name. In February 2005, the MDERR was divided into three departments : the ministère du Développement économique, de l'Innovation et de l'Exportation; the ministère du Tourisme; and the ministère des Affaires municipales et des Régions. 1, record 26, English, - minist%C3%A8re%20du%20D%C3%A9veloppement%20%C3%A9conomique%2C%20de%20l%26rsquo%3BInnovation%20et%20de%20l%26rsquo%3BExportation

Wheat was introduced into Western Canada in 1812 by the Selkirk Settlers who settled in the Red River Valley of Manitoba. There were many difficult years in the early history of wheat production. On a number of occasions almost entire crops were destroyed by grasshoppers, rust epidemics and frost. With the introduction of earlier maturing and more disease resistant varieties, the industry progressed in keeping with growth of population. The first wheat exported from Manitoba was 23 tonnes of Red Fife seed to Ontario in 1876. 1, record 39, English, - Selkirk%20Settlers

6, record 40, French, - arch%C3%A9odrome

As early as 1909 the Conservative Party believed that Canada should contribute emergency funds to help the Royal Navy maintain its superiority over the German navy. Hundreds of treaties were thus complemented by express, more or less detailed, promises made by other(especially mediating) Powers to the contracting Parties to the effect that they would see to their future observance. This method has been applied from early centuries until recent times. Such treaties or clauses of guarantee occurred everywhere in the history of international relations. They not only related to the faithful performance of treaty commitments, but also fulfilled various other functions for a variety of purposes. 1, record 48, English, - treaty%20commitment
