ENERGY CALORIMETER [3 records]

Record 1 2021-08-23

English

Subject field(s)
  • Animal Feed (Agric.)
DEF

The total combustible energy in a feed, determined by measuring the amount of heat produced when a feed sample is completely burnt in a bomb calorimeter.

CONT

Crude energy is the total amount of energy contained in a feed. Just like for proteins, the fish can only digest a certain amount of crude energy in the feed throughout the digestion process.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Alimentation des animaux (Agric.)
CONT

English

Subject field(s)
  • Scientific Instruments
  • Calorimetry
  • Nuclear Science and Technology
CONT

[Particle] physicists use the term calorimeter for any device designed to measure energy. The three inner sections of [a] detector have given us information on the charged particles in [an] event, but the neutral particles, which make up a third or more of the total, are so far invisible. These finally make their mark in the liquid argon calorimeter, a hollow aluminum spool filled with pure liquid argon and stacks of lead plates.

Key term(s)
  • liquid argon calorimetre

Domaine(s)
  • Instruments scientifiques
  • Calorimétrie
  • Sciences et techniques nucléaires
CONT
