Modifications of the luminescent process occur with the addition of lattice defects and/or chemical impurities into luminescent material. In some cases an impurity embedded within the crystal lattice forms a transition pathway through which an excited electron can make a radiative energy band gap transition. In so doing, the radiative transition which takes place at the site of the lattice impurity has spectral properties associated with the atomic transition properties of the impurity and such an impurity is termed an activator or luminescent center.

The aim of a bandha is to lock certain areas of the body to channel the vital energy(prana) in some very specific directions, so that purification and awakening can occur in the chakras and the nadis(energy channels). In uddiyana bandha, 3 kinds of energy are activated and redirected : apana, prana and samana, respectively located in the lower abdomen, in the chest, and in the center of the abdomen. This center, in fact a cluster-like pair of active centers, is shown to come from a particular multiphonon-assisted energy transfer between them. The New York Mercantile Exchange(NYMEX) is the world's largest physical commodity futures exchange located in New York City. Its two principal divisions are the New York Mercantile Exchange and the New York Commodities Exchange(COMEX) which were once independent companies but are now merged. The New York Mercantile Exchange, Inc. is currently a large private company. The New York Mercantile Exchange handles billions of dollars worth of energy products, metals, and other commodities being bought and sold on the trading floor and the overnight electronic trading computer system. The prices quoted for transactions on the exchange are the basis for prices that people pay for throughout the world. In 1933, the COMEX was established through the merger of four smaller exchanges : the National Metal Exchange, the Rubber Exchange of New York, the National Raw Silk Exchange, and the New York Hide Exchange. On august 3, 1994, the NYMEX and COMEX finally merged under the NYMEX. Now, the NYMEX operates in a state of the art trading facility and office building with two trading floors in the World Financial Center in downtown Manhattan.

Four years ago, Soviet officials expressed interest to Carnegie-Mellon University's Field Robotics Center in using robots to venture inside the crippled Chernobyl nuclear reactor. J. Todd Simonds, Red Whitaker and Chris Fromme set up Redzone Inc. to respond.... Now Redzone is preparing to ship its next hazardous waste robot, a machine called a remote tank inspection system, to an Energy Department hazardous waste program in Hanford, Wash. After testing, the robot will eventually use its snakelike 43-foot arm to inspect and clean up a radioactive waste dump in Idaho.
