Numerous outbreaks associated with viral contamination of fresh fruits and vegetables have been reported worldwide over the last decade. Fresh produce can become contaminated with viruses through contact with human sewage or infected workers during primary production, harvest, post-harvest handling, processing, packaging, and distribution. Unlike bacteria, human enteric viruses cannot multiply in food, as they need to enter living human cells to replicate. However, they can remain viable in fruits and vegetables for extended periods of time, and may cause illness if ingested. 2, record 6, English, - viral%20contamination

2, record 7, French, - pelote%20de%20pollen

A chest tube is a tube inserted into the chest cavity for removal of air or fluid, or both; it is needed when the normally airtight pleural space has been penetrated through surgery or trauma, when a defect in the alveoli allows air to enter the intrapleural space, or when there is an accumulation of fluid, as from pleural effusion. Excessive air or fluid in the pleural space can cause collapse of the lung and the danger of mediastinal shift. 4, record 11, English, - chest%20tube

A chest tube or chest drain is a flexible plastic tube that is inserted through the side of the chest into the pleural space. It is used to remove air (pneumothorax) or fluid (pleural effusion, blood, chyle), or pus (empyema) from the intrathoracic space. 5, record 11, English, - chest%20tube

Chest drain is a conduit to remove air or fluid from the pleural cavity. The fluid can be blood, pus or a pleural effusion . Allows re-expansion of the underlying lung. Must prevent entry of air or drained fluid back into the chest. A chest drain must therefore have three components: An unobstructed chest drain ; A collecting container below chest level ; A one-way mechanism such as water seal or Heimlich valve. 6, record 11, English, - chest%20tube
Record number: 11, Textual support number: 4 CONT
Chest drains incorporate the use of a one-way valve to drain fluid or air from the pleural cavity. The valve prevents back-flow of air and fluid into the pleural cavity. They are indicated for use when collections of fluid or air are present in the pleural space, and by draining the collection they restore efficient gaseous exchange. 7, record 11, English, - chest%20tube

This reduced blood supply causes a blue discoloration and if there is a complete loss of blood supply, gangrene, with sloughing of that half of the udder. 1, record 12, English, - bluebag

1, record 12, French, - mammite%20gangreneuse

Clogging, blocking and blinding. If the geotextile pore openings are slightly too small, then there will be insufficient initial wash-through of fine soil particles to promote the rapid formation of an efficient graded filter in the adjacent soil. Where the geotextile pore openings are even smaller, then there is a serious risk that either blinding, severe blocking or severe clogging will develop with time. Blocking is where soil particles resting on the surface of the geotextile, either totally or partially obstruct the pore openings.... Blinding is a special form of severe blocking, where the soil grading permits the suffusion of fine soil particles which are too large to pass through the geotextile.... Where the size of many of the soil particles is very close to that of the geotextile pore openings, then they are likely to enter the pores and become trapped within the geotextile. This can cause severe clogging which is most likely to arise in thick non-woven geotextiles with a complex pore structure. 3, record 24, English, - clogging

... the owner-driver was held liable to a child who fell through some defective floorboards and was run over, on the ground that the cause of the accident was not the negligent driving but the dangerous floorboards, for which the owner was responsible as the occupier of the automobile. Mr. Justice Aylesworth stated that "the statute does not provide an exemption from common law liability upon the owner of defective premises or in this case defective chattels, where injury arises from that defect known or which ought to be known to the owner of the chattel and when the person injured has been invited to enter into or on the chattel. 2, record 25, French, - lieux%20d%C3%A9fectueux

Standby corrosion. The internal parts of a geothermal turbine, provided the blading is made of the correct materials, are normally immune against attack from geothermal steam. However, when a machine is shut down, air may enter through drains or glands as the trapped steam condenses as a result of radiation heat losses. This air, in the presence of the non-condensible gases remaining in the turbine, could cause serious corrosion of both stator and rotor. 1, record 27, English, - standby%20corrosion

The "Index-grain apparatus"(...) is a sedimentation device in which the free fall of grains is slowed by three nozzle-like constrictions which cause turbulence that results in better grading of the grains. In order to distinguish between the single grain fractions which settle in a graduated, conical, water-filled sedimentation vessel, a colored index set of three known grain fractions is added to the sediment before separation : 1 cmthree black grains in the grade 0. 02-0. 035 mm 1 cmthree red grains in the grade 0. 063-0. 11 mm 1 cmthree black grains in the grade 0. 2-0. 35 mm(...) The suspension with the added index set is poured into the filling tube, which is closed from below with a float stopper. The stopper is opened by squeezing a rubber bulb on the filling tube, and the suspension can immediately enter the lower sedimentation tube. The filling tube has a constriction that generates turbulence. The grains therefore enter the sedimentation tube pregraded. By multiplying the percentage volumes of the individual grades(minus the added colored index grains of each grade) by the average bulk density [(gamma]=1. 56), the weight-percentages of the individual grades are calculated on the basis of 100% dry material. 1, record 29, English, - Index%2Dgrain%20apparatus

1, record 29, French, - appareil%20%C3%A0%20grains%20color%C3%A9s%20comparateurs
