English

Subject field(s)
  • Logic (Philosophy)
  • Mathematics
  • Artificial Intelligence
CONT

The concepts that can be expressed by means of equations and the kinds of proofs that may be devised using equations are central concerns of equational logic.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Logique (Philosophie)
  • Mathématiques
  • Intelligence artificielle
OBS

CONT

... the application of conventional mathematics and biology may be of limited utility in understanding the dynamics of... complex ecosystems. The typical reductionist approach to aquatic ecosystem analysis is the top-down approach. Equational models(top-down attemps at approximating nature) are subject to many limitations... In general, equational models are not good at dealing with highly nonlinear effects, such as thresholding or if-then-else conditionals, which occur in behavioral and ecological studies.

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
DEF

Applied to the second meiotic division of the germ cells.

CONT

The second meiotic division known as equational(homeotypic) enables the oocyte(or the spermatocyte) of the second order to distribute its n chromosomes which have become 2 n chromatids between its two daughter cells.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
DEF

Record 11 2003-04-30

English

Subject field(s)
  • Genetics
DEF

A nuclear division in which daughter chromosomes separate from each other, as in ordinary somatic cell division.

OBS

In classical descriptions, based on the number of chromosomes distinguishable with the use of a microscope, a first reductional meiotic division and a second equational one are referred to. On the contrary, in more recent and more current descriptions based on the quantitative analysis of DNA the first division is the so called equational division(2N-2N) and the second division is the so called reductional one(2N-N).

French

Domaine(s)
  • Génétique
DEF
