The most common mechanism of absorption for drugs is passive diffusion. This process can be explained through the Fick law of diffusion, in which the drug molecule moves according to the concentration gradient from a higher drug concentration to a lower concentration until equilibrium is reached. Passive diffusion can occur in an aqueous or lipid environment. 2, record 2, English, - passive%20diffusion

In the Northern Hemisphere, the latitudinal and seasonal patterns of the early twentieth century warming are remarkably similar to the patterns predicted by the equilibrium response general circulation model study of Manabe and Stouffer for a quadrupling of CO2 concentration. If this similarity was a result of early twentieth century CO2 forcing then it may indicate that equilibrium models can give realistic results... If CO2 [is] not the dominant forcing mechanism then this similarity supports the idea that the latitudinal patterns of climatic change are largely independent of the type of forcing. 3, record 4, English, - carbon%20dioxide%20forcing

The octanol-water partition coefficient is the ratio of the concentration of a chemical in octanol and in water at equilibrium and at a specified temperature. Octanol is an organic solvent that is used as a surrogate for natural organic matter. This parameter is used in many environmental studies to help determine the fate of chemicals in the environment. An example would be using the coefficient to predict the extent a contaminant will bioaccumulate in fish. The octanol-water partition coefficient has been correlated to water solubility; therefore, the water solubility of a substance can be used to estimate its octanol-water partition coefficient. 11, record 8, English, - octanol%2Dwater%20partition%20coefficient

1, record 23, French, - flux%20chimique

Dynamic adsorption. The most common mode of adsorptive separation process employs a fixed bed, cyclic operation. As the wet process stream enters the fresh molecular-sieve bed, the water vapor is adsorbed in a finite length of bed called a mass-transfer zone(MTZ), the bed length through which the concentration of the adsorbate is reduced from essentially inlet to outlet conditions. As wet gas continues to flow, the bed may be divided into three distinct zones; the dynamic equilibrium zone with inlet gas, the MTZ, and the remaining active zone. In most molecular-adsorption systems, the MTZ becomes stabilized because of its favorable isotherm and moves at a constant speed. The bed is exhausted when the leading edge of the MTZ reaches the outlet end of the bed. High effective capacity results from high dynamic equilibrium capacity and a short MTZ. 1, record 24, English, - dynamic%20adsorption

Coulometric techniques. SO2 can be detected by measuring the current necessary to maintain an equilibrium concentration of potassium bromide and bromine in an H2SO4 solution. As SO2 is absorbed the bromine concentration will decrease and a current to an electrode is monitored for how much bromine need to be produced to restore the original concentration balance. Sensitivity is adequate for most urban and industrial applications; however, for background rural sampling, the device has been replaced by the next detector. 2, record 26, English, - coulometric%20technique
