Coffea arabica o cafeto arábica es el que se cultiva desde más antiguamente y representa el 75% de la producción mundial de café. Produce un café fino y aromático, y necesita un clima más fresco. El cultivo del arábica es más delicado, menos productivo y está reservado a tierras altas de montaña, entre 900 y 2.000 msnm.
