The National Aboriginal Forestry Training and Review Committee was established in 1993 to increase the participation of Aboriginal people in the forestry industry. As a first step, the committee looked at the level of participation in the industry. At present, the committee is working with specific educational institutions to encourage Aboriginal people to take training programs in the forestry industry. It is also working with the institutions to modify existing programs to include an Aboriginal component.
