Double jersey fabric is made on a machine with two sets of needles to produce two layers knitted together to make a double thickness. All the loop tops are formed between the two fabrics so the front and back of the fabric look the same as the right side of a single jersey fabric. Double jersey fabric is more stable than single jersey but has less stretch. Both staple and filament yarns can be used.

Pressed wool felt is a non-woven engineering fabric manufactured either solely from wool or from a wool and blended fibre mixture. Manufactured by means of compression, heat and moisture, it's construction depends upon the unique properties of the wool fibre.... This interlocking of fibres results in [a] structure that can be further enhanced with milling and hardening(this is the felting stage). The more the wool is felted, the firmer(denser) it becomes. The materials final hardness is in direct proportion to the amount of felting it has received.... the fabric is [then] dried under tension to stabilise it's manufactured thickness and width.

Ripstop nylon is a light-weight nylon fabric with inter-woven ripstop reinforcement threads in a crosshatch pattern. The material comes in many different colors and sizes, including thickness. It is woven with coarse, strong warp and filling yarns spaced at intervals so that tears will not spread. Ripstop nylon produced for various purposes may be waterproof, water resistant, fire resistant, or have zero porosity(will not allow air or water through), and can come in light, medium and heavy weights. Textures range from a soft and silk-like material to a crisp or stiff fabric that sounds like a paper bag when moved.

At this stage, the product appears as rolls of paper coated with a waterproof membrane. In the second stage, a knitted base fabric and the coated paper are then run through the transfer coating process. The coating layer is then transferred from the paper carrier to the knitted base fabric.

Moleskin and Corduroy are rugged cotton fabrics long used in outdoor wear, as trousers, jackets, vests and shirts... a few mills to maintain production of high quality cotton moleskin fabrics. Moleskin and corduroy are both fustian fabrics, woven with a twilled weave to form a thick dense cloth, and having a cut nap on one side. With the moleskin, the fabric is brushed to form the nap... The nap or pile is then sheared to form a uniform surface. The best quality fabrics are very tightly woven from fine threads of long staple cotton... Moleskin, with a brushed nap, is softer than corduroy, and, with uniform thickness, is somewhat more wind resistant... Both [fabrics] however are rugged long lasting materials providing great comfort and good protection from wind chill.

Schober and Teindl show that a compressive force of 100 kPa (146 psi) can reduce the k-value of highly compressible needle-felt fabrics by factors ranging between 2 and 8. This compressive force is roughly equal to fabric buried beneath 150 ft of dense soil.
