A tube inserted into the esophagus to maintain airway patency in unconscious persons for positive-pressure ventilation through the attached face mask.

OBS

An esophageal obturator airway [or] EOA is a semi-flexible large-bore tube approximately 30 cm in length, with 19 holes in the shaft and an inflatable cuff. A soft face mask is attached to one end and the other end is closed. The airway was designed for personnel who are not authorized to place endotracheal tubes. One of the distinct advantages is that it can be inserted blindly through the mouth without having to visualize the larynx. It is also helpful in the prevention of gastric regurgitation. The disadvantages are that the tracheo-bronchial tree cannot be adequately suctioned and there is the possibility of esophageal rupture when the cuff is inflated too fully.

Ochotona collaris is a medium sized pika averaging 17. 8-19. 8cm in length. O. collaris, otherwise known as the collared pika, is usually gray and has grayish patches on the neck and shoulders. These patches seem to resemble a collar, after which the species is named. While very similar in appearance to the American pika, O. princeps, the collared pika's creamy-buff coloration on the side of the face over the facial gland and white ventral coloration help to differentiate the two. Like other pikas, O. collaris has short ears, slightly larger hindlimbs than forelimbs, and a hardly noticeable tail. The collared pika has a relatively broad, flat skull, no supraorbital process and no fenestrae in the frontals.

A Soltau Model RVS 250-AS-STS microtunneling machine with a slurry spoil removal system was selected on a lease arrangement to install the 24-in. sewer line. A mixed face cutting head configuration was selected in anticipation of the varying ground conditions. The unit is supplied with high pressure water jets which have proven effective in boring through dense clays. The RVS 250-AS-STS involves two new innovations. First, it utilizes a state-of-the-art laser guidance system coupled with a completely digital operator control panel with continuous, up-to-date information on the tunneling process. A data logger, which can record data at specific time intervals or length of pipe jacked, also provides for a permanent record of the operation.

Three main systems of methane drainage have been developed :(1) the cross-measure borehole method which consists of boring holes from 2¼ to 3¼ inches in diameter and 150 to 300 feet in length, into the strata above or below the seam, generally close to the working face. This method has the advantage of being suited to a wide variety of conditions and does not require another seam within reasonable distance above or below the seam to be drained, or the use of solid stowing;(2) the superjacent roadway system in which boreholes are drilled from a roadway situated above the seam being worked, the drainage of the methane then taking place from this roadway; and(3) the pack cavity system in which corridors are left and supported in the goaf as the face advances, and from these firedamp is drawn off.

Le scraper-rabot. Le rabot est à la fois un engin d'abatage et de chargement. Quant au scraper-rabot, il fait à la fois l'abatage, le chargement et le transport. Il marche bien avec une taille courte, de pente supérieure à 10°. Le scraper-rabot est une caisse dotée de couteaux qui attaquent le massif à la manière d'un rabot, mais le charbon au lieu d'être soulevé par un soc est ramené au bas de la taille par la caisse qui forme scraper. Pour cela, on le munit d'un volet mobile s'effaçant dans un sens et raclant dans l'autre. Les couteaux de ces caisses sont, soit fixes, soit orientables automatiquement, l'orientation étant donnée par le câble et inversée avec le sens de marche. Haveuses rouilleuses légères. La rouilleuse allemande Korfmann [...] est sur chenilles, roues ou traîneau. Elle comporte des colonnes de serrage. Test for Special Form Radioactive Material.... Bending test : This test is performed only on long slender material with a minimum length of 10 cm and a length to minimum width ratio of not less than 10. The material is rigidly clamped in a horizontal position so that one half of its length protrudes from the face of the clamp. The orientation of the material is such that the package suffers maximum damage when its free end is struck by the flat face of a steel billet. The billet strikes the material so as to produce an impact equivalent to that resulting from a free vertical fall of 1. 4 kg through one metre.

In screw-type flaring, the first three steps are the same as for impact flaring, namely, the tube cut to length and all burrs removed, and the coupling nut is then slipped over the end of the tube. The tube is clamped in the flaring bar so that the end of the tube is slightly above the face of the bar.... The yoke of the flaring tool is placed on the bar so that the bevelled end of the compressor cone is over the tube end. The compressor screw is tightened down forming the flare between the chamfer of the flaring bar and the bevelled compressor cone. The flaring tool is then removed and the joint assembled in the same manner as described under impact flaring.
